Eugene Carter, Sr.

Eugene Carter was born on August 6,1946 to the late Mary Franklin Carter and Harvey Clyde Carter. His mother Mary later married Clover Chaney Bell. He was educated in the Tyronza, Arkansas School District where he attended elementary, middle and high school. Eugene continued his education through Job Corp where he studied the trade of Machinery. He later went to Emily Griffith Technical College to update his skills.

After he graduated and received his certification, he moved to Chicago. He later moved to Mississippi where he met his first wife Wilmer Faye Williams. The family relocated to Colorado. To this union,  Eugene Carter Jr. on May 21, 1969. This marriage was later dissolved. On November 30,1973 Eugene was remarried to Theresa Yvonne Johnson. To this union, Eugene gained a son in Terry Lynn Johnson.

In his younger days, Eugene 's family recalls that he worked as a share cropper and picked cotton. Eugene worked as a Mechanist Supervisor for over 50 years at Rocky Mountain Arsenal, Chaparral Industries, H & H tools Company, Teledyne Technologies, and Martin Marietta.

To know Eugene was to love him, he was kind hearted and very sincere. He was also very handy, and could fix just about anything. Eugene had a garden to die for, it was always immaculate and prosperous. He grew vegetables and found it in his heart to share them with the community. In his free time, Eugene enjoyed working on cars. He was a member of the Old Skool Street Rollers Car Club and he took pride in owning his 1970 SS Chevelle,

Eugene was a dedicated husband, father, and great grandfather. He was always willing to help others. He loved to cook and his Thanksgiving Turkey was the best. He tutored the youth math at New Covent Christian Church and had a calling for teaching; whether it was at church or work, he shared his knowledge willingly.

Eugene is preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters.

Eugene passed away peacefully with his family by his side on July 31, 2022. He is survived by his wife, Theresa; two sons, Eugene Jr. and Terry; 6 grandchildren; 2 great-children; nine brothers; seven sisters; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and relatives and friends.

In honor of Eugene Carter, a Memorial Service will be held, Thursday, August 11, 2022, 11AM at Zion Temple Pentecostal Church (1600 Syracuse Street, Denver, CO 80220).
