Paula Lewis

Paula Diana Lewis was born on March 1, 1955, in Colorado Springs, Colorado, to the late Roland Daniel Lewis, Sr. and Sylvia Lewis (Grimes). She was the eldest of four children, Ronald, Jr., Gary, and Jaynè. Her siblings would agree that she was a dramatic sweetheart. Shortly after her birth, the family relocated back to New Orleans, Louisiana. Then they decided to move away from the south for a better life, relocating again to Denver, Colorado, where she called home.

Paula received her secondary education in the Denver Public School District; she graduated from South High School.  After graduating, Paula considered becoming a flight attendant, but quickly learned that she couldn’t handle the planes turbulence, so she dabbled in some modeling and worked as a Bell Operator for many years. All while continuing her education online taking college courses.

Paula was the proud mother of three beautiful children, Deshawn, Antoine, and Tikia. She was a Phenomenal loving mother to her children.  They remember their mother as a joker, always cracking jokes and laughing like a hyena. She had a unique laugh that everyone would get on her about! She had the heart of a warrior and would go to battle with a bear over her family. She instilled in her children to overcome problems and thrive despite any issue that confronts them. She always tried to help others in need in any way she could. Making those she loved most happy gave her so much joy!! She later was blessed with three grandchildren, Aaliyah, Alayah, and Ariana, and one great grandchild, Arayah. She refused to be called grandma, so “NANA” it was!!!

She found solitude in being with her friends and family, watching reality TV with her daughter and grandchildren, eating good food with her feet kicked up, and drinking a cold Pepsi.

On Sundays, she would join the Heritage Christian Center online to praise the Lord.  Jumping, stomping, shouting and waking her grandchildren up so they too can join in. Paula loved life and lived it without reservation.  We will remember Paula for her goodness, kindness, caring nature, loyalty, and her wisdom. Despite her past, she never let anyone tell her what she can and cannot do. Her recipes will for sure ever live on and she will forever be truly missed.

Paula is preceded in death by her father, Roland Lewis, Sr. and her brother, Roland Lewis, Jr.

Paula Diana Lewis joined her loving father on April 10, 2021, in Denver Colorado.  She is survived by her children, Deshawn Lewis, Antoine Lewis, Tikia Julian; her mother, Sylvia Lewis Grimes; her grandchildren, Aaliyah Lewis, Alayah Dukes, Ariane Dukes’ great grandchild, Arayah Lewis; her siblings, Jayne Lewis Johnson, and Gary Lewis; her nieces and nephew, Jedidiah Johnson, Jaida Johnson and Javonna Johnson and lots of other family and friends.
