Ellen Morgan

May 18, 1931 — April 14, 2021

On May 18, 1931 in Tyler, Texas, the sun rose on the life of Ellen Morgan, born to her proud parents, George and Carrie Wheeler.  Ellen was the fourth child of nine children in the family.

Ellen accepted Christ at an early age and was an active member of Mt. Zion Methodist Church in Tyler Texas.  She would tell stories of how she and a couple of her cousins formed a singing group and performed at church revivals.  She said she had quite the voice back then.

Ellen received her formal education in Tyler, Texas.

Ellen relocated to Denver, Colorado in 1961, where she met and married Otis Morgan.  Ellen was the proud mother of two children, Zina and George, who she brought into this union.  Otis accepted both children as his own.  Otis and Ellen would later birth into their union two more children, Johnny and Yvonne.  She was a loving mother and devoted wife. Ellen was proud of her family and she was also very protective of them.  One thing you did not do was mess with her children or grandchildren.

By profession, Ellen started working in the dry-cleaning industry and later moved into the hotel industry.  After many years in the hotel industry, she retired.  She later went back to work and worked for Flight Services and Chelsea Catering until she retired again in 1992.

In her spare time, Ellen loved to garden and go fishing.  She was also an avid Bronco fan and loved to listen to the blues and gospel music. She really enjoyed spending time with her family.

Ellen desired a church that taught the Word of God.  She found a home church in Leake Memorial Methodist Church in Aurora, Colorado, and became an active member. She truly loved her church family and they genuinely loved her.

Ellen was preceded in death by her husband, Otis Morgan; her sons, George Wheeler, and Johnny Morgan; her parents, George and Carrie Wheeler; and all of her siblings.

On April 15, 2021, Ellen Morgan passed from this life and into the Lords loving embrace.  Those left to cherish her memory includes her surviving children Zina Wheeler (Earl O’Donnell), Yvonne Morgan (Reggie Williams); two sisters-in-law, Inez Sweatt, and Mary Morgan, three grandchildren, Clarence Wheeler, Joseph Wheeler (Phelisha) and Tasha Haul; five great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and many friends.

Rest in peace, mother and friend,

you will be truly missed.
