Carlotta Howard-Ross

October 1, 1955 — September 1, 2021

As beautiful as a rose to see, was her life she lived so gracefully.  She made things precious by her touch; her selfless love lives on in each of us.  The petals of her life fell one by one; each a gift of her heart till there were none.  Yet her radiance blooms once again in fields of glory with no end

Carlotta Ann Howard Ross was born on October 1, 1955, in Oak Grove, Louisiana to her parents, Mattie Lee Howard and Henry James Waits.  She was the first born in the family.  She was raised surrounded by her brother, Jessie; and her sisters, Pamela and Lourens.  As a child, she enjoyed playing basketball and gymnastics.  She enjoyed singing and styling hair.

The family eventually relocated to Denver, Colorado and she graduated from Manual High School.  She furthered her education by attending Pennsylvania State University, where she earned an associate degree.

On July 12, 1978, Carlotta married, Richard Ross in Denver, Colorado.  They exchanged vows in the home of her mother. She was the proud mother of two beautiful children, Edward, and Leila.  The family shared many happy and precious moments together.

She was later blessed with nine grandchildren, Shavon, Anthony, Deemond, Greg, Isantae, Tynise, Isiera, Davionne, and Eyon who all were an additional source of joy and pride in her life.  They fondly remember her always giving them money and gifts.  They all shared many happy and memorable moments together.

Carlotta was a woman who was no stranger to hard work and diversity.  She has been employed in the hospital as a LPN. She has worked for Caterpillar Industries as a Forklift Operator, the Armadillo Restaurant, and Saint Paul Nursing Home.  Wherever employed, she was hard-working, dedicated, and dependable.  She also earned a number of awards and certificates.

A woman of faith and belief in the Lord, Carlotta was a member of Colorado Community Church in Aurora. She believed in the power of prayer and having the right relationship with the Lord.  At the time of her passing, she had been a member for over five years.

Carlotta was a fun-loving woman, who enjoyed life and those she encircled.  In her free time, she enjoyed cooking, watching movies and televisions shows, listening to music, and spending quality time with family and friends.  Her closest friends, Flox and Peggy will miss the many happy and precious moments they shared together.  She will be missed by all who were fortunate enough to have known this kind and wonderful woman.  To know Carlotta was to love her.

Carlotta Ann Howard-Ross departed this life to the embrace of the Lord on September 1, 2021, in Denver, Colorado.  Those left to cherish her memory and mourn her loss include her mother, Mattie L. Jones of Aurora, CO; 1 son, Edward D. Howard of Dallas, TX; 1 daughter, Leila L. “Peaches” Howard (Robert W. Kersey) both of Denver, CO; 1 sister, Lourens G.
