Beverly Jones

June 2, 1939 — August 9, 2022

Denver, CO

Beverly Anne Jones was born June 2, 1939, in Larned, Kansas to Mother Evelyn Hanna. Beverly was the first born preceded in birth by sisters Vicky, Patricia, Betty Ruth, twin brothers Kenith and Keith and baby brother Darrell. When Beverly was four years old the family moved from Larned to Denver joining other aunts, uncles and cousins. “Bev” attended Mitchell Elementary School, Cole Junior High and Manual High School in Denver. Lifetime friendships, relationships, and bonds were made over the school days and years. Over the years Bev made many friends however, she considered Donna Evans and Paula Hicks as sisters and regarded Wendell Evans as a brother. In April 1956 Bev married Samuel “Sam” Jones. They remained married for over 61 years until his death in 2017. To their union three daughters were born, Risë, Nanette and Angela. The joining of the Hanna/Jones family made for lots of cousins, aunts, uncles and grandparents who worked lived, played and partied from Five Points to Parkhill. Between Bev’s three Sister’s - Vicky, Pat and Betty Ruth there was always an “Aunt” babysitter and cousin playmates for any outside game you could think of from football to hide and go seek. Beverly was a working Mom who was a “ride or die” wife, mother and grandmother. For decades Bev worked as a data entry key punch operator, she retired in 1999 as a payroll clerk from the Public Service Company of Colorado (now XCEL Energy). Sam and Bev enjoyed traveling, their favorite places to travel were Jamaica, Mexico and cruising the Caribbean. The most treasured trips for Bev were east coast visits to see her children, grandchildren, and great grand kids in Maryland, New York and New Jersey. Beverly enjoyed cutting the lawn and tending to flowers in her flower bed - as she joked “it gave her solitude from her kids and husband”. For the better part of her life Bev was a rabid Denver Broncos fan who never gave up on her team no matter a winning or losing season. During football season she flew the gifted Broncos flag from nephew Gary. As a tribute to Bev, during the first game of the 2022 season her children flew the flag in front of her home knowing the Broncos lost one of their biggest fans. Both in blood and love, Beverly is survived by many - people made her world go round. She was preceded in death by husband Samuel F. Jones and leaves to cherish her memories, three daughters, Risë A. Jones, Denver, CO, Nanette Jones (Darryl), Silver Spring, MD, Angela Jones (Reginald), Bowie, MD, two sisters; Patricia Glover and Betty Ruth Marsh, two brothers, Keith Berry and Darrell Rowles, Denver, CO four grandchildren, Ajaa Long (Sean), Montclair, New Jersey, Daniel F. Potts, Silver Spring, MD, Sunni Jones-Ford, Long Beach, CA, Darryl O. White, Laurel, MD, six greatgrands, Daniel S., Layla, Giselle, Sienna, Preston, Sean Jr., a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. *A special thank you to nephew/sons Gary L.
