December 30, 1969 — May 28, 2025

Willie Joseph Latson, Jr/.

Willie Joseph Latson, Jr. was born in Denver, Colorado on December 30, 1969, to his parents, Johnnie Mae Washington Latson, and Willie Joseph Latson, Sr. He was raised surrounded by the love his siblings, Sherry, Cynthia, Valerie, and Doris.

Willie received his formal education in Denver, where he graduated from high school. He furthered his education earning an associates degree. He was the proud and loving father of three beautiful children, Brandon, Willie, J., III, and Joslyn. He was later blessed with 6 grandchildren, who all were and additional source of joy and pride in his life.

Willie was a fun-loving man, who enjoyed life and those he encircled. He was the type of man who never met a stranger, and was known to lend a helping hand to those in need. He will be missed by all who fortunate enough to have known this one-of-a-kind guy. To know Willie was to love him.

He is preceded in death by his father, Willie J. Latson, Sr.; and a sister, Cynthia Bray.

On May 25, 2025, Willie Joseph Latson, Jr. transitioned from labor to reward in Thornton, Colorado. Those left to cherish his memory and mourn his loss include 3 children, Brandon J. Lewis of Alamosa, Colorado, Willie J. Latson, III, and Joslyn Latson, both of Denver, Colorado: his mother, Johnnie M. Latson, of Denver, Colorado; siblings, Sharry Bray Surratt, Valerie Bray Elan, both of Denver, Colorado, and Doris Hardy of Arkansas; 6 grandchildren, a brother-in-law, Kenneth Carr of Albany, Georgia; 3 nieces, Stephanie L. Bray, of Denver, Colorado, Shina R. Vigil, Shardell Surratt all of Denver, Colorado, a special “auntie”, Matilda Jones of Thomasville, Georgia, and a host of nephews, other aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and many friends.

A legend of a man is gone but his memory will forever be cherished in our hearts and our mind.

“Rest on dear loved one. We all loved you but God knows what’s best.”
