Willie Cooper

April 26, 1941 — October 18, 2023

Willie Mae Cooper was born on April 26th, 1941 in Beaumont, Texas to the late Willie Ann Smith Sigarst and R.Z. Sigarst. Willie Mae was the eighth of ten children born to this union.

After the passing of her mother, at the early age of five, she was raised and educated in Jasper Texas where she attended public school.

Years later, she met and married the love of her life, Marion Cooper on July 5th, 1956. They were blessed with the birth of 6 wonderful children; Patricia Cooper, Marion Cooper lll, Sherry Cooper, Craig Cooper (Josanne), Michelle Cooper (Darren), and Secresha Cooper.

After her husband was discharged from the military, she and her family moved to Cheyenne, Wyoming then eventually settled in Denver, Colorado. They soon returned to Beaumont, Texas where she resided until the destruction of Hurricane Katrina. Willie and most of her children and grandchildren then returned to Denver, Colorado for good.

Willie Mae loved the Lord and attending church every Sunday. She also enjoyed knitting, shopping, working out, and cooking healthy meals for her family. Decorating for the holidays was especially enjoyed, with both Christmas and the 4th of July being her favorites. In her down time, she also enjoyed watching her top shows Bonanza, Little House on the Prairie, and Jeopardy.

She was loving, giving, practical, emotionally strong, loyal, grounded, yet stubborn & quick tempered. She lived to feel comfortable and prioritized stability over everything else. She was also a big time jokester, very observant of one’s appearance. She might unintentionally hurt your feelings by calling you out on your weight, whether thick or skin and bones - all before a proper greeting. All in all, she meant well and she loved her family. Willie Mae Cooper is truly missed with many memories left to cherish her by.

She is preceded in death by her parents Willie Ann Smith Sigarst, and R.Z. Sigarst; husband, Marion Cooper; four brothers, Clarence, Robert, Clyde, and Wilbert Sigarst; sisters, Evelyn Chavis, Catherine Bridges, and Aline Sigarst, and grandchildren, Shannon Cooper and Méasha Vaughn, Antione Cooper.

She is survived by daughter, Patricia A. Cooper; son, Marion Cooper III and his children, Danadiyah Hurd, Shayrene Jackson , Chauncey Cooper, Brianne Cooper; daughter, Sheryl A. (Michael Vaughn deceased) Cooper and their children, Shawn Cooper, Shaniqua (Chavis) Cooper, Tianna Cooper; son, Craig (Jozanne) Cooper and his children, Courtnie Cooper, Danielle Cooper and Jasmine Cooper; daughter, Michelle (Darren) Cooper and their children, Sharde Cooper, Caylene Cooper and daughter, Secresha Cooper and her children, Dominique Digourville, Nadiyah Digourville, Savannah Cooper and Mckennah Cooper; as well as sisters, Jewell Guidry and Hattie Rogers of Beaumont, Texas.
