LIFE’S JOURNEY
Wilbur Jones Williams, Jr.
The story of Wilbur Jones Williams, Jr. is a tapestry of love, faith, and dedication woven with threads of family, community, and passion as he was raised in Birmingham, Alabama and Denver Colorado. Born to Wilbur Williams, Sr. and Donna Howard, Wilbur's journey began with a foundation of love and support that would shape his remarkable life.
Educated in the public school system, Wilbur's thirst for knowledge led him to graduate from East High School before pursuing higher education at the University of Colorado at Boulder.
On April 10, 1973, Wilbur embarked on a new chapter of his life as married, Shelley Johnson. From this union, two radiant daughters, Portia and Muriel, were born, becoming the lights of his life and the embodiment of his pride and joy.
A man of many talents, Wilbur's entrepreneurial spirit thrived as he established his own accounting and tax business shortly after the birth of his first daughter, Portia. His dedication to his work was unwavering, often finding solace and purpose in the walls of his office, where he poured his heart and soul into serving his clients.
Wilbur grew up in the Church and his faith grew stronger as he began studying the Bible more intensely upon receiving a Bible for his birthday in 1985 from his daughters Portia and Muriel, and niece, Tasha. It was during these formative years that his deep-rooted faith blossomed, leading him to be baptized at Macedonia Baptist Church, where his soulful voice found a home in the choir.
In addition to his professional endeavors, Wilbur generously shared his talents with his community, providing accounting services to Macedonia Baptist Church and Scott Methodist Church, embodying his commitment to serving others and spreading goodwill.
A true sports enthusiast, Wilbur found joy in cheering for his favorite teams, the Denver Broncos, Denver Nuggets, and the University of Alabama, his passion for sports mirroring his zest for life. An avid reader and collector, he frequented the Denver public library, amassing a treasure trove of CDs and DVDs that reflected his diverse interests and insatiable curiosity.
Above all, Wilbur's heart overflowed with love and pride for his beautiful granddaughter, Priya, whose presence brought him immeasurable joy and happiness.
