Helen Cecelia Williams was born on November 2, 1932, in Memphis, Tennessee to her parents, Deborah Mack and Rev. It. Mack. She was the second born child, and was raised with her siblings, Fredericka and Anetta. As a child, Helen enjoyed playing piano, reading, dancing and cheerleading. One of her fondest memories from her childhood included a neighbor asking her on her way home from school how she was doing; and in her confident voice she responded with her hands on her hips, “I feel with my hands”. She later paid the price for her actions with a spanking.

Helen was educated through Johnson City Public Schools, she graduated in 1951 and was an honor student. This was a testament to her academic excellence and determination. She then pursued higher education at Central Missouri State College, earning her Bachelor of Science degree. Furthering her commitment to education, she attended the University of Guam, where she achieved a Master's degree in Early Childhood Education achieving Magna Cum Laude status.

A distinguished professional, Helen worked as a nurse, educator, and college professor. She worked at places including Rose Medical Center, Steadman Elementary and Fairview. She earned numerous awards in her career including honors as a music classical piano instructor. Her career reflected her passion for learning and helping others, impacting countless lives through her teaching and caregiving roles.

Helen met a young man by the name of Lorenzo Harrington, Sr. while living in Tennessee, they were joined in holy matrimony on May 21, 1951 in her father’s church. To this union, Renetta, Lorenzo, Wendell were born. This marriage was later dissolved. After relocating to Colorado, Helen met a young man by the name of Oscar C. Williams, they were joined in holy matrimony at Central Baptist Church on November 9, 1957.To this union Amber Michelle Williams and Charles Frederick Williams.

She later gained an additional source of pride and joy with the birth of her grandchildren, Loreena Aguon, Lawrence Aguon, Othello Aguon, Azarah Martin, Naomi G. Hill, and Anthony Gill. To them, “Gee Gee” or “Grammy”. One of their fondest memories included doing housework with her, and helping her move from Guam to Colorado. This trip allotted the opportunity to bring artifacts from Guam back home.

Helen’s interests were as diverse as her career. She found joy in going to church, she knew that her help came from the Lord. She attended services at Macedonia Baptist Church, Central Baptist Church and was a devout member of Ebenezer Baptist Church. She at one point was a Sunday School Teacher, Choir Director, Pianist and Organist. Helen also enjoyed cooking, traveling, investing in real estate and spending time with her friends, Marie Noble, Natalea Woods, and Zenobia Porter. Her talents extended to interior decorating and nurturing plants, which she was very proud of. Moreover, she delighted in giving gifts to those she loved, Helen hosted holiday parties, ensuring to invite everyone so that others did not feel left out. This being one of many examples of her generosity and kindness.

She is survived by her son, Lorenzo Harrington and his family; her daughter, Michelle C. Williams; grandchildren, Ashantee Martin and Jay Martin; and her extended family including the Frazier family, Gill family, Ebenezer and Sisters Keeper family, Brown family, Jones family, Burchettes family, Aguons family, Martins family, Rameys family, and Young family. These relationships reflect the broad and supportive network that was integral to Helen’s life.

Helen’s story is one of achievement and love her impact will be remembered and cherished by those fortunate to know her.

Wendell Kent Harrington was born on November 25, 1955 in Denver, Colorado. He was born to a military family and was primarily raised at Anderson Air Force Base in Guam.

Wendell attended John F. Kennedy High School, where he played basketball at a competitive level. His experiences in high school set the blueprint for his life. To know Wendell, is to know that he never gave up on anything. He always performed his duties with a spirit of excellence. Wendell worked as a Stock Clerk Manager for several years at King Soopers, brightening the days of others and ensuring that products were available to shoppers. Wendell was a mathematician who impressed many with his skills.

During his free time, he enjoyed debating politics, playing dominoes, chess and rooting for the Denver Broncos. He also enjoyed cooking with his mother in preparation for holidays.

Wendell had an inseparable relationship with his dog “Sheeba” by which he shared with his mother. To her, the dog was known as “Grand dog Sheeba”.

Those left to cherish his memory include his brother, Lorenzo Harrington; sister, Michelle Williams; 1 daughter, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

He will truly be missed by all who were blessed to have known him.
