Wendell Brannon Byars

February 6, 1980 — June 22, 2025

Wendell Brannon Byars was born on February 6, 1980, in Denver, Colorado. He was the fourth of five children born in the family and was raised with his siblings, Christopher, Kirby, Cathy, Christian and Melanie. As a child, he enjoyed playing with toy soldiers and hot wheels. Wendell was truly a miracle baby, his parents were told that he wouldn’t live past 5 years old, but God truly blessed him.

Wendell was educated through Aurora Public Schools, where he attended and graduated from Aurora Central High School. He continued his educational journey by attending the Community College of Aurora, where he earned a certificate for independent living. This was a testament to his dedication.

Wendell was known for his warm personality and caring spirit, he always remembered family members birthday’s and celebrated them in a way that made them feel special. Wendell was a sports enthusiast. He participated in the Special Olympics, where he was awarded numerous gold medals playing basketball, flag football, bowling, track and field, and softball. His fondness for sports extended to a passionate support for the Denver Broncos. Win, tie or loss, he was there to root on the home team.

Wendell held a deep connection with the Lord, he was a member of True Faith Church of God in Christ for 45 years. Wendell faced many challenges in his life, but always found a way to trust the Lord through it all.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Christopher Scott; uncle, Michael Byars, and aunt, Cynthia Lipscomb.

Those left to cherish his memory include his mother, Veda M. Byars-Woods; step-father, Kirby Lee Woods; sisters, Cathy L. Scott-Chance, Christina D. Scott, and Melani M. Byars-Briscoe; as well as aunts, Sheril Byars and Marva Meredith; uncle, Arthur Lipscomb, and a host of nieces and nephews who will carry forward his spirit and memory.

Wendell's life, was marked by his vibrant spirit, he will be cherished and remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
