Virginia Lee

July 31, 1959 — July 20, 2022

Denver, CO

Virginia “Gin Gin” Ann Lee was born in Winnebago, South Dakota on July 31, 1959 to her parents Elsie Lee and Melvin Sanders. She was the only child born to this union. Virginia was raised in Denver Colorado by her grandmother June Sanders and her father Melvin Sanders.

Virginia was educated through Denver Public Schools and was not a fan of school. There were times in which Virginia's father would drop her off at the front door of the school and she would immediately exit through the back door of the school.

Growing up, her first cousins were her playmates. She fondly called her cousins Melva Jean and Marvin, her sister and brother. They embraced her as their little sister. Virginia's ride-or-die cousin was Sharon June, they thought of each other as best friends and sisters. Virginia worked as a nurse aide. She spent most of her adult life as a homemaker and childcare provider for any family member that was in need of assistance. All of the kids loved her and affectionately called her "Gin Gin."

Virginia had one child Travis Lamont Sanders. Travis was truly the love of her life. Travis's children Travis Jr., Travon, and Tanaysia were an additional source of pride and joy for her.
Virginia had a dog named "Sugar" who was very near and dear to her. Virginia enjoyed spoiling Sugar with chicken and steak.

During her free time, Virginia enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. Virginia's home was a haven for anyone who needed a place to stay, a meal, or good company. A woman of faith, she was a member of House of Hope Christian Ministries Church. Many of the members there had known Virginia for years. Virginia spent the last year of her life at University Heights Rehab and Care Community. The staff adored her and most of them referred to her as Gin Gin, some even called her momma and were saddened by her passing.

Virginia is preceded in death by her parents Elsie Lee and Melvin Sanders, her son, Travis
Lamont Sanders, and her faithful companion Sugar.

Those left to cherish her memory and mourn her loss include her grandchildren, Travis Jr.,Travon, Tanaysia, and great-grandchildren, Kay'Liesse, Kaden, and a host of friends and relatives.
