Tracy Elaine
Allen
March 23, 1972 – March 26, 2026
OBITUARY
Tracy Elaine Allen embodied living with love, care, tenacity, and strength. Born March 23rd, 1972, to John H. Allen and Wendy E. Parker Allen, she spent her childhood in Kansas City, KS. She attended William Allen White Elementary and Coronado Middle Schools, where her peers remember her as smart and spunky. As a child, Tracy was certain of who she was, quick to express herself in whatever way she saw fit. An adventurer and thrill-seeker, she enjoyed riding with her Dad on his motorcycle, often begging him to “go faster!” and would develop her own love for cars and all things automotive. The time she spent hanging out with her older cousins, who were more like siblings, exposed her to hobbies like roller skating, dressing in the latest fashion, and jamming to the latest music, influencing much of who she would become as she got older.
In 1985, Tracy and her family moved to Colorado. She completed her 8th-grade year at Horizon Middle School and went on to attend both Overland and George Washington High School. When she wasn’t sitting in the front row in the classroom, Tracy spent her free time visiting and staying over with close friends, spending time with each other's families, enjoying home-cooked meals, and playing card games. Like some other teens in the city, Sundays started with hanging out at City Park and ended at the Skate Rink. Her friendships made during this time would grow into lifelong brotherhoods and sisterhoods.
Tracy began her devoted journey as a mother in October of 1995, after the birth of her daughter, Tyler J. Allen. She spent a great amount of time creating or finding opportunities that would become once-in-a-lifetime memories. Bold and playful in her personality, much like she was as a child, Tyler was her mini-me. As a Mother she made sure that Tyler “did everything she didn’t get to do”, and “was the best she could be”. That meant spending time experiencing different people and places through food and travel, constantly seeking knowledge beyond the classroom through books, museums, and time with elders, and most importantly, showing up as her best self, reinforcing productive and positive routines into her Black Girlhood experience.
She also reflected her determined nature in her work. In 1996, Tracy Allen became a City and County of Denver Employee, starting as a Vehicle Impound Clerk for the Denver Sheriff Department. In 2006, she took on the position of Property and Evidence Technician with the Denver Police Department. After 11 years, she was promoted to Lead Technician in 2017 and assisted with department management. Upon her return from Kansas City in 2023, she was employed as a Law Enforcement Records Technician with the Sheriff Department, serving a total of 24 years with the City and County of Denver. Tracy was a team player, learning from her counterparts and leadership, and furthering her resourceful, intuitive strengths. The friendships she made influenced and inspired who she was both in and outside of the workplace.
Tracy Elaine Allen departed this life on March 26th, 2026. She was a beloved daughter, mother, sister, cousin, and friend who made sure those she cared about felt her love. Without a doubt or question, she positioned herself to help or look out for her family and those in need. She encouraged and supported everyone she knew to be their best and most authentic selves, so they could achieve their goals and follow their dreams and passions. May her spirit continue to live on and inspire those blessed to have known her.
Cherishing her memories are her Mother Wendy E. Parker Allen (Aurora, CO), her Daughter Tyler J. Allen (New Orleans, LA), Sister Molette Winslett-Speed (Roeland Park, KS), Bonus Brothers Charles Bailey, Jr. (Kansas City, KS), Kevin Bailey (Lee Summit, MO), and Durail Bailey (Kansas City, MO), Bonus Sisters Nina Sidner (Denver, CO), Angela Clifton (Houston, TX), Michelle Richardson (Aurora, CO), and Brenda Salinas (Denver, CO), companion Darian Hunter (Aurora, CO), and a host of Aunts, Uncles, Nieces, Nephews, Cousins, and Friends.
