Tracie LaDean Cowan

Tracie LaDean Cowan, a beautiful spirit who graced this world with her vibrant energy and infectious smile. Born on November 24, 1969, in Denver, Colorado, Tracie was the beloved firstborn of Judy Thomas and Donel Taylor. Her beginnings were filled with an adventurous spirit, dancing through childhood as she swam double Dutch, skated at the Dahlia Lounge, and embarked on joyous camping trips with her treasured family, including her Uncle Joey and siblings.

A proud straight-A student, Tracie's dedication to education led her to George Washington High School in Denver, which laid the foundation for her further pursuits. Her academic journey flourished at Shakopee University and PCI Academy in Minnesota, where she earned degrees in accounting and cosmetology, reflecting her diverse passions and talents.

Tracie's life was enriched by her six loving children: DeAna, Keasha, Ennis, Ebony, Tre’Vaughn, and Romeo. Each of them held a special place in her heart, and their unique nicknames—like "Honey Poo," "Sunshine," and "Butterfly"—speak to the affection and joy she brought to their lives. As "Grandma Tracie," she warmly embraced her role as matriarch, showering her twelve grandchildren with endless love and cherished memories.

Her fiancé, Edward “Spudy” Miles, swept into her life and solidified the love they shared with an engagement three years ago on her birthday. Their days were woven with laughter and joy, from movie nights to casino escapades, a testament to their unwavering bond. Edward's devotion is a reflection of the love Tracie inspired in those fortunate enough to know her.

Tracie's professional journey as a hairstylist at Generations in Minneapolis showcased her flair for creativity and connection, leaving an indelible mark on all who sat in her chair. A proud member of New Creation Baptist Church, she found spiritual solace when she was baptized three years ago.

Tracie reveled in the simple joys of life—treasured moments spent with her family and close friends, including Nicole Owens and Angela Bassett, alongside her four-legged companions, Milo and Papa. Shopping at Rainbow and losing herself in the rhythms of Kendrick Lamar brought her delight during her leisurely hours. She also embraced her creative passions, crocheting and making beautiful beaded jewelry that brightened lives.

Her journey came to a gentle close at her home in Minnesota on May 19, 2025, surrounded by love and enveloped in peace, with a radiant smile that reflected her warmth and spirit. Though Tracie has left this earthly realm, her legacy of love and resilience will forever remain etched in the hearts of her mother, siblings, fiancé, children, grandchildren, and countless others who were touched by her light.

She was proceeded in death by grandmothers Audrey Cowan and Eloise Mallard brother Carl Taylor and sister Liya Taylor.
