Obituary

Sterman Cullins, was born on 24 February 1936 in Decatur, MS, where he attended public schools from first grade through tenth grade. His junior and senior years were completed at Westley Chapel High School, Carthage, MS, from which he graduated in May 1955. His undergraduate degree was earned at Mississippi Industrial College (Ml). Holly Springs, MS, in May 1959. He attended the University of Florida as part of the National Science Foundation programs for teachers during the summers of 1969 and 1970. He earned a Master of Arts Degree in Principalship and Supervision from Arkansas State University in 1972. Later, at Arkansas State University, he earned an additional 15 semester hours in Principalship and Supervision. My first professional job assignment was at Delta Center High School in Walls, MS. There, he was given the responsibility of organizing the new school's first basketball and football teams. His first assignment was interrupted when he was drafted into the United States Army in January 1960. His specialty title in the Army was Medical Specialist. His overseas duty was in Orleans. France. After being discharged from the U.S. Army. he was hired as a coach and science teacher at Wilson Trade School in Wilson. AR. After leaving Wilson Trade School, he was employed by the Memphis City Schools System, where he taught and coached at Douglas High School. Fairview Junior High School and Westwood High School, where our Indoor Track won two State Track Championships, and our Outdoor Track Team won one State Track Championship. Upon relocating to Denver, CO, he worked in management at McDonald's and Burger King restaurants. From 1992 to 2020, he was employed in some capacity at the Denver International Airport. Since March 1981, he was a member of Cleaves Memorial CME Church. He organized the ·church food bank in 1994, and today it is a vital entity in the community. He also was an active member of The Retired Enlisted Association. He and Minnie Storey were married on 6 October 1962.

He leaves to cherish his legacy, his children- Scott (Aurora, CO) and Traci (Round Rock, TX) ● His grandchildren- Tobias, Jessica, Raphael, and Regine ●  And great-grandchild- Aileena
