Shirley Lee Cornel Eason was born on March 19, 1942, in Norfolk, Virginia to her parents, Annie May and Carnegie Eason. She was raised by her grandmother, alongside her sister, Bettie Jo Hayer. As a child, Shirley spent a lot of time with her grandmother. When she grew a little older, she and Bettie Jo would board a greyhound bus from Virginia and head north to spend time with her mother and sister Barbara Ann. During these trips, Shirley enjoyed fishing with her mother. Shirley attended Booker T. Washington High School in Norfolk, Virginia where she laid the foundation for a life of true devotion.
Shirley's career began as an Administrative Assistant where she worked for Great West Life, and she later continued her professional journey at Vetra Bank. She always performed her duties with a spirit of excellence. Her co-workers shared a special bond with her, especially Pierre from the Philippines.
Beyond her professional accomplishments, Shirley was a dedicated mother to her children: Carnegie, Yolanda, and Dierdre. Amongst their finest memories include the clothes she used to make them, that were quite fashionable.
She gained an additional source of pride and joy with the addition of her grandchildren: Talayia Robinson, Zorana Milligan, Kayla Woolfolk, Darius Milligan, Tianna Fellows, Zinah Milligan, and Zamiel Milligan. Additionally, she is blessed with one great-grandchild, Quintin Fellows. Each of them carry many precious memories. Most notably, they recall that she loved to dance and go on road trips. One time, she bought a Mahalia Jackson CD that she played non-stop the entire road trip home. She was also always there when her grandchildren needed her.
