Selmer Lyette Hines, known affectionately as Lyette, passed away on the evening of April 19, 2024, at The Suites at Parker skilled nursing facility in Denver, Colorado. Originally from Illinois, Lyette's journey began on January 26, 1969, when this beautiful creation from God was born to Deborah Hines and Willie Bean. This was the beginning of her life’s journey of experiencing the faithfulness of God.
From the outset, Lyette embraced life with an unwavering faith in God and a thirst for knowledge. As a child, she exhibited a love for learning and a spirited independence. She enjoyed playing, swimming, skating, and dancing, embodying a tenacious spirit that guided her through life. Though she excelled in various roles, including office management and dental assistance, her true passion lay in teaching and creating. Her pursuit of knowledge led her to explore diverse fields such as real estate and dental office staffing, ultimately culminating in her fulfilling life as an artist.
Lyette's faith in the Lord was palpable in all aspects of her life, evident in both her unwavering belief and her creative endeavors. An ever visionary, her artistic talents extended to crafting beautiful soaps, clothing, accessories, and producing captivating video content.
A devoted member of Landmark Ministries and later Calvary Temple, Lyette found joy in teaching and formed lasting friendships, including her dear companion Linda Appenfelder. Her aunt Hannah Renee Hines, brother Archie Lamar Hines, Cousin-Sister Deborah "Tootie" Smith, and long time friend Juanita Mondragon are also thankful for the opportunity to be included in Lyette's inner circle.
Lyette's generosity knew no bounds, as she selflessly impacted the lives of those around her, leaving an indelible mark on her family, friends, and even medical professionals who crossed her path. Lyette held her family close to her heart, particularly cherishing her role as a mother and grandmother. She shared a special bond with her son Adrian Elias Jr. as he was one of her fondest accomplices. They would spend hours talking on the phone while he drove to and from his destinations as an over the road truckdriver. She would reminisce about his love for telling imaginary stories when he was little. He gave her the first grandson fondly known as Baby Adrian. She spent countless hours nurturing their relationship. Their bond transcended distance and time, exemplifying a love that knew no bounds, defying all limits and obstacles placed between them. There are not enough words in the English language to express how she loved him and devoted as much time as she was allowed to loving and pouring into him all she could. To Baby Adrian, Lyette was his “Omee”. The closeness they shared is unshakable and will live on forever. She longed and looked forward to knowing her other grandchildren.
She is survived by her loving mother, Deborah Hines of Aurora, Colorado; her son, Adrian Elias, grandson, Adrian Elias, a granddaughter, and yet to be born baby Elias all of Aurora. She also leaves behind aunts, uncles, nieces, a nephew, cousins and friends.
