Life's Journey, Ruby Nell Hysaw, a shining beacon of love and warmth, graced this world on May 15, 1943, in Decatur, Mississippi. Born to Ester and Sarah Thames as the sixth of ten siblings, Ruby's early life was steeped in the vibrant chaos of family, where she learned the values of togetherness and resilience. When she journeyed west to Colorado, she embraced a new chapter—one filled with promise and adventures that she approached with unwavering spirit.
The formative years of Ruby’s education unfolded within the halls of the Mississippi public school system, culminating with her graduation from C. H. Boler High School. Throughout her life, she found boundless joy in simple pleasures—playing cards, lively phone conversations, and cherished visits with friends and neighbors. Her laughter and bright spirit enlivened any gathering, leaving an indelible mark on all who had the privilege to know her.
A dedicated butcher at BAR-S, Ruby was a model of commitment and diligence, earning recognition for her remarkable attendance throughout her career. After her retirement in the late 1990s, she took immense joy in nurturing her family and relishing her treasured role as a grandmother, where her legacy of compassion and care flourished.
A woman of deep faith, Ruby embraced her spiritual journey from an early age. Accompanied by her beloved sister Claudia, she ventured to Colorado, initially stepping into the caregiver role before life's path led her to love and, ultimately, to lessons learned in a marriage that would also conclude. Despite the sorrows, her heart remained open—especially when it came to cooking, feeding others, and bringing joy through her culinary delights, a testament to her nurturing nature.
Ruby's big, bright personality and melodic voice resonated in the hearts of everyone she met, crafting a lasting echo of love that will always remind us of her spirit. She was predeceased by her loving parents, her cherished daughter Zinnie Ruth Hysaw, and brothers Johnny, Willie Dean, James Earl, and Eddie Ray Thames. We find solace in knowing that they are reunited in heavenly peace.
On January 7, 2025, Ruby transitioned peacefully, enveloped in love, in her home in Denver, Colorado. She leaves behind her adored grandchildren, Clabrine Hysaw III, Niishia N Hysaw, and Netesha A Hysaw, along with her cherished siblings—Claudia Mae Evans, Theresa Huddleston, Edna Ruth Carr, Robert (Sate) Thames, and Linda Ruth Laster. The tapestry of her life is woven with countless relatives and dear friends who carry forward the light of her spirit.
