Roland W. Anderson

 

Mr. Roland W. Anderson was born on February 12, 1934, in Austelle, Ga., he was the eldest son of the late Roland Anderson and Susie Few. He was a beloved Husband, Father, and friend who departed this life on July 11, 2023. Roland will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

 

At an early age Roland accepted Christ at Shiloh Baptist Church in Austelle, and later in life joined New Life Christian Fellowship Church in Denver, Colorado under the leadership of Pastor Manning Perkins. He later embraced his new Pastor, Dr Kevin Thompson and was a loyal member even when he could not attend on a regular basis. He spent his formative years in Austelle, Ga, and graduated from Douglasville High School. He gave the United States Air Force four years of his life after high school in 1956 to serve his country.

 

Bro. Roland made his home in Colorado, where he met the love his life, Miss Carrie Swift affectionately called, Miss Ellie”, by Bro. Roland. They were united in holy matrimony on July 24, 1964, and celebrated 59 years of marriage. To this great union they raised three (3) incredible children, eldest daughter Vicki, son Barry and youngest daughter Keven.

 

After his service in the Air Force, Bro. Roland joined with the City of Denver and was employed there for thirty-four years before retirement. Throughout his career, he was known for his hard work. Bro. Roland enjoyed gardening and automobiles and he was meticulous about his yard work and his cars. Bro. Roland was a great orator and lecturer about political events as well as an avid lover of sports and was always eager to share his knowledge and enthusiasm with others. He always left you with his words of wisdom.

 

Bro. Roland is proceeded is death by both of his parents Roland and Susie Anderson, and his only brother Gene. Bro. Roland is survived by his loving wife, Carrie his children, eldest daughter Vicki and son in law Bennie King, only son Barry Anderson and youngest daughter Keven Lynch. His Brother-in-law Bill Swift. Seven (7) Grandchildren, Fifteen (15) Great Grandchildren and Five (5) Great- Great Grandchildren, a host of loved ones, family and friends.

 

Rolands memory will be honored, loved and cherished by all who knew him.
