Oscar Wendell Hall

Oscar Wendell Hall was born on May 18, 1934 in Kansas City, Missouri to his parents, Velma and Hubert Hall. He was raised with his sisters, Monyett and Duchess. Oscar’s family relocated to Denver, Colorado where he was educated through Denver Public Schools. He graduated from East High School and went on to earn two master's degrees, reflecting his lifelong commitment to learning and development.

Oscar dedicated his life to serving his country. He enlisted the United States Army, where he served for two year. He later joined the United States Air Force, serving as a Computer Radio Instructor from 1959 to 1979. He also taught communication as an instructor in college. This included his participation in the Vietnam War. His dedication and leadership earned him the ranking of Lieutenant Colonel, a proud accomplishment that was a testament to his hard work. Following Oscar’s military career, he enjoyed photography and traveling. He was also a devout member of the OMIK Radio Association serving with a spirit of excellence. Oscar had a true appreciation for life and traveling gave him a perspective that many others could only wish to experience

Amongst Oscar’s accomplishments included being featured in Ebony Magazine in June of 1967. He was one of the best eligible bachelors for two years in a row.

To know Oscar was to love him, he had a sense of humor and enjoyed going on adventures. He brought joy and laughter to those around him, leaving a lasting impact on family and friends alike.

Oscar is survived by his loving sister, Monyett Ellington; son, Steven Hall; daughter, Marian Williams; grandchildren, Kahliah Kimberly Love and Rashaad Hall; as well as nieces, Erica Love, Monyett and Dana; nephew, Tracy (Lisa) Love; great nephew, Tracy Jordan; great nieces, Maya, Trinity and Danielle; and a host of cousins who will cherish his memory.

Oscar's life was marked by his commitment to family, community, and service to his country.
