Nyla Garth

Nyla “Nola” Garth was born on September 9, 1960 in Colorado, to her parents, Theresa and Will Chapman. She was raised with her siblings, Ouida, Willie, James, and Percy. Nola was educated through Aurora Public Schools where she attended Aurora Central High School.

Following high school, Nola meet a young man by the name of Michael Garth and the couple were joined in holy matrimony by Rev. Fontenot on June 20, 1980 in Denver, Colorado. They enjoyed fishing together, going on road trips and camping. To this union, Terry Michael, Tenisha Lachia and Theresa Michelle were born. She was also blessed with additional children, Reneé and Michael. Her children fondly recall how their mother would playfully throw them down and how she was always very engaged with any and all of their activities. She also made the best smothered burrito’s and always made sure that they had bible study on Sundays.

Nola gained an additional source of pride and joy with the addition of her grandchildren, Isaac, Tearra, Joshua, Deandre, Ariel, Marc Anthony, Champ Don’t’e, Makayla, Shawn, Devin, Nathan, jr., Zane, LeAundre, Sr., Ransom, Endyiah and Alexyiah. To them, she was known as “Granny”, “Nana” and “Grandma”.

To know Nola was to love her. She enjoyed cooking for her family and friends and made the best fried chicken. She loved rooting for the Las Vegas Raiders as well as spending time outdoors.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Theresa and Will Chapman.

Nola passed away into the embrace of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on December 24, 2022. Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Terry, Tenisha and Theresa, Reneé and Michael Jr.; siblings, Ouida, Willie, Percy and James; 15 grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
