Napoleon Christian was born on March 16, 1946 to his parents, Mattie Sims and Dallas Christian in Texas. He was raised with his siblings, William, Dallas, Benjamin, Warren, Johnnie, Freddie and Verna. His family relocated to Denver, Colorado where he was educated through Denver Public Schools. He attended and graduated from Manuel High School, which helped build a solid blueprint in his life.
Following high school in 1963, Napoleon enlisted in the U.S. Army, where he was stationed at Fort Polk in Louisiana and later at Camp Casey in South Korea. His military service instilled values of discipline and integrity that he carried throughout his life. After his time in service, Napoleon contributed his skills at the V.A. Hospital and the Denver Federal Center as a Fireman. He later took on the role of Customer Support Coordinator with the Colorado Department of Corrections, showcasing his commitment to public service.
Napoleon met a young lady by the name of Rita Snow, and they were married in January of 1970. To this union, Marcus and Maria were born. This marriage was later dissolved. Several years later, Napoleon ran into a lady by the name of Nina Turner while shopping at a beauty supply store. They later married on December 12, 2003. The couple spent many wonderful years together, celebrating their families accomplishments and traveling the world.
To know Napoleon was to love him, he was known for his kindness, generosity, patience, and honesty. Not only was he a diligent worker but also a devoted family man who celebrated major holidays including; Thanksgiving and New Years Day where he made a family favorite dish, chitterlings.
His interests ranged from fishing to trying his luck with slot machines, and he found joy in listening to gospel music. Napoleon valued his friendships deeply, often spending time with close friends, Bert Coston, Elaine Robinson, Larry Jones, Jewel Ford, Theotis Hall, Ron Harding, Wiley Rogers, Robert Coleman and many more; they created life long memories.
Napoleon was a true man of faith who devoted his time to the Lord’s ministry. He sang in the choir for several years, always doing so with a spirit of excellence. He will truly be missed.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Mattie Sims and Dallas Christian.
Those left to cherish his memory include his beloved wife, Nina Turner; his son, Marcus; his daughter, Maria; his grandson, Marcus Jr.; his brothers, Benjamin, Warren, Johnnie (Nataliya); and his sister, Verna.
As we remember Napoleon Christian, we honor a life well-lived, one filled with generosity, kindness, and an unwavering spirit. He will be truly missed.
