Megan Grace Roe,
It is with great grief and sadness I sit here trying to recount a detailed reflection of my baby girl, Megan Grace Roe, life's achievements. On June 10, 2000 my sweet Megan Grace Roe was given life and gave Julia Frances Roe and her late husband William Oliver Roe unbelievable joy. Megan was the baby of the family as the 6th child with her 3 older brothers and 4 sisters: Joel, Adam, Michael, Wendy, Madison, and April. Megan recently entered into the role as a big sister with the birth of her youngest sibling, Emme Faith in 2012.
Megan spent her first years of school at Rolling Hills Elementary, her adolescent years at Falcon Creek Middle School, and finally graduated from Grandview High School in 2018. Such a bright young lady and incredible athlete, our Megan was offered an exclusive full-ride scholarship at Graceland University in Lamona, Iowa. Gracie cautiously decided to later pursue a transfer and was enrolled at the University of Northern Colorado. In addition to her academic commitments, Megan took on her role as the lead teacher at Springboard Education.
We knew from very early on from when we would find her naked in the rabbit cage or called the police to find her missing and she was running down the street naked, that Megan was, in fact, a stink bug. Megan lived without a care in the world and friends and family would unanimously note her as an eccentric, ambitious, excited, animated, kind, thoughtful, and generous human being, sister, friend, daughter, aunt, and teammate. We celebrate Megan's devotion to the Lord throughout her whole life and we remark her membership to the Word of Life Christian Center Church to 15 years. Megan was always ministering to somebody or leading them to Christ. A true lover of the Lord, she discovered early on the meaning of her life and the peace that came with her acceptance of Jesus as her Lord and Savior. Her humble foundation in Christ gave rise to her numerous achievements athletically and academically... and really anything and everything else she put her mind to. Megan was a straight A student brainiac all while participating in such a diverse range of sports and activities including the following: swimming, soccer, cheerleading, volleyball, track, basketball, flag-football, piano, and singing. The list goes on. Megan was our champion.
How blessed we feel to have been touched by someone so selfless who's million-dollar smile lit up the room every time. We will think of Megan every time we taste frosting, every time we see the color blue, every time we hear any number of her favorite songs, every time we touch her babies- Chico and Yodi-, and anytime we look in the mirror. She has touched each of our lives dearly in a way we will never forget.
Our hearts are shattered as Megan's stopped on July 14, 2019. May we all turn to the Word of the Lord to remind us of Megan's everlasting life. "But our citizenship is in Heaven. And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ, who, by the power that enables him to bring everything under his control, will transform our lowly bodies so that they will be like his glorious body," (Phillipians 3:20-21).
While Megan's physical body is perishable, we remember that her soul is not. It was a privilege to have experienced all of the little moments with Megan that give us strength to understand her passing and fervor our faith during this difficult time. May we all reach for comfort with the endearing, unforgettable, and priceless memories Megan privileged us with. We will savor and reminisce on all of her wonderful attributes and the special spark she ignited in all of our world's.
Megan's soul was much too pure for this unrighteous world. We will all assume her pain. Her burdens are now ours to bear and her treasures and spirit ours to carry. Megan was preceded in death by her father, William Oliver Roe, her Uncle Emmett Roe, her grandparents, and her cherished son, Chico Morales Gonzales, Jr. (dog). She is survived by her mother: Julia Roe, her step-father: Mark Surratt, her brothers: Joel Roe, Adam Pigford, Michael Pigford and his Wife Cynthia, her sisters: Madison Pigford, April Roe, Wendy Roe, Emme Surratt, Tori King, her step siblings: Andre, Marques, Curtis, Joshua and Jimmy, her aunts: Bridget Darden (David), Kelly Johnson (Dean), her uncles: Rocky Theunissen (Marcia), Joanne Roe, Kenny Tripp, and her nieces and nephews: Zoey Roe, Gage Pigford, Kaicyn Pigford and fur babies, Chico the third, and Yoda. Megan is survived among a host of other extended family, relatives, and close friends.
"Come to Me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest," (Matthew 11:28). Thank you, Lord, for loving Megan and letting us borrow her for this short time. No time would have ever been enough with Megan. You can rest now, Megan.
A Special Letter to my Baby Girl:
"Megan, if only you knew what a treasure you were to me, since the moment I held you in my arms. I wish you could have seen your inner beauty as well as your outer… maybe you would have stayed a little longer. I wish I could have held you longer and kept you a little closer, but I know now you are in the arms of Jesus where there is peace and comfort for you. I thank God for the time he let me borrow you. I will see you again, next time, in Heaven with our Lord Jesus Christ. You were one of my greatest gifts from God. I love you.
Love, Mom"
