Mandisa Jarae Perry
Mandisa J. Perry, affectionately called “Mandi” by family and friends, was born on October 9, 1976, in Denver, Colorado to Angelique M. Woods and Ricardo E. Perry. She was raised by Angelique and her father in love, her “Daddy”, Marvin A. Green. As the middle child of three siblings in the home, Mandi had a clear sense of creativity and how to express it. She loved the earth and was particularly fond of playing in (and eating) the dirt and playing with roly-poly bugs. She liked to sing and dance around the house in mommy’s heels, hats and jewelry. She often recalled with great sentiment all the memories she had of playing with all her sisters, cousins and friends and all the fun they had riding in the back of her Daddy’s gold station wagon, Goldie, and red truck, Rose.
Mandi received her formal education in Denver Public Schools, attending George Washington High School and ultimately obtaining her GED from Emily Griffith. In 1993 she was blessed by the birth of her only child, daughter Jaurdane J. Perry-Woods. Jaurdane, or “Pootie” as she called her, was the light of Mandi’s life. She did everything she could to make sure Jaurdane was well taken care of and instilled in her that she could do anything she set her mind to. Mandi went on to get her cosmetology license in Missouri. She later attended Community College of Denver where she earned a Medical Assistant certificate.
Very family-oriented, Mandi often planned staycations with her nieces and nephews at local hotels. The weekend included pizza, swimming and lots of love and fun. Her “babies” would affectionately refer to her as “Auntie Disa”, she was “the fun auntie”, and the one who would always call just to check on them and tell them she loved them. She loved going for mani/pedi pamper days with the girls and dinner afterwards. Being the diva that Mandi was, she always made sure her hair, nails and feet stayed flawless.
Mandisa peacefully transitioned from her earthly body on July 31st, 2022, with her family by her side. She was preceded in death by her mother Angelique Woods and her father Marvin Green.
Left to cherish her memory and mourn her loss are her daughter, Jaurdane Perry-Woods, her grandmother Rosetta Greene of Denver, CO; Ricardo (Angela) Perry, of Commerce City, CO; her siblings Tanisha (Anthony) Perry of Westminster, CO, Adrienne Woods of Las Vegas, NV, Mya Perry, Sharifa Perry, Ja’Net (James) Hurt, all of Denver, CO, and Laura (Eldridge) Downing of Aurora, CO and a host of uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews, sistas and brothas from another mother, friends and loved ones.
