Luther James Ward, was born to Lue Nettie Ward in Rusk County Texas on May 27, 1946.
Education was important to Luther, who graduated from Laneville High School. Following High School, Luther enlisted in the United States Army. During this time, he became a Sharpshooter. He carried the lessons he learned throughout his life into his personal and professional endeavors.
Luther's life was marked by dedication, a strong work ethic, and genuine kindness that touched everyone he met.
Luther was a job loyalist, dedicating 27 years of his life as an associate at Gates Rubber Company, followed by an additional 25 years in a second career. His performance in every role he undertook was fueled by a spirit of excellence that inspired his colleagues and made a lasting impact on the workplace.
On December 31, 2013, Luther joyfully married Joyce Ward in a ceremony at the Justice of the Peace. Together, they shared many wonderful years, filled with love, laughter, and cherished moments that will be remembered by all who knew them.
Luther was a genuine and hardworking person, known for his love of gardening and for spending quality time "under the tree" with family and friends. Luther James Ward's legacy of love, integrity, and hard work will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know him.
He leaves behind his beloved wife, Joyce Ward; children, Patrick and Toni; stepchildren, Ekere and Ima; grandson, Trey; brother-in-law, William Moore Jr.; and family members Rhonda and Wanda Norman, Michelle and Monica Moore, cousins James Ward, Rod Lewis, and John Clark, along with many other cousins, family, and friends who will forever treasure his memory.
