Leroy "Nicky" Taylor, Jr.

May 5, 1950 — February 9, 2022

Denver, Colorado

LeRoy Henry Taylor Jr. was born to Thelma and LeRoy Taylor Sr. on May 5, 1950, in Denver, Colorado. Leroy was the oldest of five siblings, Cheryl B, Stephen F., Sylvia L. and Sandra.

From an early age, LeRoy was given the nickname “Nick the Greek AKA Nicky”, a Greek term meaning Victory of People. LeRoy lived his life in a way that was deserving of this name.

He attended Whittier Elementary School and Cole Junior High School where he enjoyed debate club, auto shop, and many other activities. Nicky received his G.E.D and pursued further education, attending Palmar Medical Center.

He earned certification as a nursing aide, phlebotomist, and X-Ray technician. LeRoy also took telecommunication courses at Denver Community College.  He worked in construction for many years and performed all of his duties with a spirit of excellence.

Nicky married Gloria Taylor, and to this union came Derek Zorn of Aurora, CO and from his teenage love Barbara Herron was born Shawn Ray of Denver, CO his eldest son. He was blessed with an additional source of pride and joy when he became the stepfather to, Rochelle Pando-Hegwood and Craig Robinson. This marriage was later dissolved, and he met a lovely lady named Linda Alexander. The couple blended their families and Nicky gained three additional children, Steven Griffin, Jessica Griffin and Anthony Alexander. Nicky took his role as a stepfather to all of his children very seriously and was always willing to help. He provided for them, gave them advice, and guided them to become the best men and women that they could possibly be.

To know Nicky was to love him. He was always a ladies’ man and was often thought of as a “rolling stone”. He laughed, played HARD and loved HARD. Nicky’s lively outgoing and caring personality will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

The final pages of Nicky’s book were written on Wednesday, February 9, 2022.

LeRoy was preceded in death by his mother Thelma Anderson, father Leroy Taylor, Sr., stepfather Archie Anderson, sisters Cheryl Turner, Sylvia Taylor, and brother Steven Taylor.

He leaves to cherish his memory his two sons, Derek Zorn Taylor and Shawn Ray Herron; his sister, Sandra Manlove; his five stepchildren, Rochelle Pando-Hegwood, Craig Robinson, Steven Griffin, Jessica Griffin and Anthony Alexander and grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and cousins, all in Colorado.

WE MUST BE STRONG AND CHERISH THE WONDERFUL MEMORIES WE ARE LEFT WITH
