Leevetta attended Dungee High School in Spencer, OK and moved to Denver in August, 1970 where she held several employment positions including a Librarian at Beth Israel Hospital, driver for Purolator Courier, Nurse Aide for Park Avenue West Care Facility, and finally retiring from Asis Fashions as a Fashion Consultant under the leadership of Rev. Ida Smith. Leevetta joined Rising Star Missionary Baptist Church in 1998, becoming very active in church and did not want to miss a service. Leevetta served as member of the Pastor's Aide Ministry, was a faithful Sunday school attendee and served as the Mass Choir President for at least two terms. She was a faithful member who supported other ministerial activities and truly loved God. Leevetta "Miss V" has inspired many as she walked according to God's Word. She made everyone she encountered feel important and loved. Miss V was a stranger to no one although feisty, she always told the truth, giving spiritual advice to many. She was a mother to those who needed mothering and a comfort to those who needed comforting. Miss V was called home to be with Jesus on Wednesday, September 19, 2012 and will be greatly missed by everyone. Leevetta Gwendolyn Younger-Burke was born February 9, 1948 to the proud parents of Eli Barber and Idolyeu Tansy Younger in Guthrie, OK. Leevetta is survived by her spouse of 34 years Ernest C. Burke Jr., her daughter Cecilia D. Younger - Denver, three step-children, Troy May of Minneapolis, MN; Ernest C. Burke III, and Kimberly L. Burke-Atkinson of Atlanta, GA; two brothers Jerol L. Younger Sr. of Albuquerque, NM, and Anthony (Gail) Evans Sr. of Denver, two sisters Rhonda (Dexter) Webb of Denver, and Gloria Wynn of Oklahoma City, OK 12 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. Leevetta "Miss V" was preceded in death by her mother, father, and youngest brother.
