Karl's early years in Denver, highlighted by his education at East High School, laid the foundation for a life of resilience and leadership. His exceptional talent for the culinary arts transformed cooking into a shared, joyous experience, a reflection of his creativity and thoughtfulness. Throughout his career, he worked as both a chef and a carnival ride operator, traveling to Mexico and San Diego, California, embracing new adventures.

A dedicated fan of the Raiders, Karl found joy in Sundays filled with laughter, camaraderie, and good food. He cherished potlucks, bingo nights, and gatherings with friends and family, always creating treasured memories.

At the heart of Karl's life was his family. His children—Anthony Leon, Karl Jr., Tiffany, James, Rhiannon, Heavenly, and Mya—were his greatest pride, alongside his twelve grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. His mother, Faviola Mosley, and siblings—brothers Tony, Leroy, Joe Jr., Jule Wayne, Larry, and sisters Dorothy, Linda, Faviola, Bertha, and Melody—survive him, remembering him as a loving and supportive family leader.

Even after losing sight in one eye, Karl's style and charisma never dimmed. He was known for his confidence and ability to make friends easily, leaving a lasting impression on all he met.

Predeceased by his father, Marvin Hawkins Sr.; step-father, Joe Mosley Sr.; brother, Marvin, sister, Helen; and dear friend, Bobby, their memories continue to live on through shared stories and love.
