Joe Davis

Joe Dan Davis Jr. was born on July 3, 1966 to his parents, Jo Catherine Humphries and Joe Dan Davis Sr., in Denver, Colorado. He was the second child born in the family and was raised by his mother, Jo Catherine Humphries and step-father, Johnnie Humphries. He grew up with his siblings, Carmelia Humphries, Angela Davis, Louisea Davis, Dallas Humphries, and Christopher Humphries.

As a child, Joe enjoyed playing sports, singing, and dressing up. He carried these hobbies into his adulthood. Joe was very protective of his sisters and was a mama’s boy his entire life. Joe was educated in Colorado where he attended Aurora Central High School. He later graduated in 1984.

Joe enjoyed cooking and established a career as a chef. He worked at the Double Tree Hotel and The Hyatt hotel for where he served as the Head Chef. Didn’t matter the dish, he could make an amazing meal with whatever you wanted incorporated.

During his free time, Joe enjoyed watching football, playing Spades and Dominoes, camping, dancing and listening to music. He was always a joy to be around and was a loyal friend. His smile was contagious and you couldn’t help but find joy being around him. Many that knew him referred to him as Colorado Joe or Killah Groove. To his nephews, he was known as superman.

Joe was a unique individual that did not hide who he was, he was often quoted saying, “woo, woo, woo, woo as he was strolling up … classic”. He was loved by everyone he crossed paths with and he will truly be missed.

Joe passed away on November 26, 2022. Those left to cherish his memory include his mother, Jo Catherine Humphries; step-father, Johnny Humphries; 3 sisters, 2 brothers, 2 children, Jodecy Davis and Tamaj Davis, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
