Henry Thomas

February 2, 1958 — March 8, 2013

The life of Henry Cyril Thomas began when he was born on February 2, 1958, in Elizabeth, New Jersey to his parents, the late Henry Clay Thomas, better known as "AC Thomas", and Emily "Babe" Prather Thomas. He was raised surrounded by his brother, Peter Marshall Earl and his sisters, Muriel and Trunice. As a child, he was affectionately called "Bosco", a name given him by his grandfather, Anderson Prather because he loved Bosco Chocolate Syrup. His brother, Peter gave him the nickname "Bear". He loved to roller skate, go the beach where he enjoyed the sea shore and ride his bike in the mountains. He was very protective of his family and they all shared many happy and precious moments together. Henry received his formal education by attending Jefferson Elementary School, Burnet Jr. High School and he graduated from Union High School all in New Jersey. He furthered his education by attending the Lincoln Technical Institute where he completed courses in heating, air conditioning and refrigeration (HVAC) which allowed him to obtain his Boiler License. On December 1, 1976, Henry enlisted in the United States Army. He was stationed in Frankfurt, Germany. He served with honor and distinction and was honorably discharged. He relocated to Denver, Colorado and became employed by Coors Brewery and the Denver Housing Authority. He is remembered as being hard working, dependable and dedicated. He has resided in the Denver Metro area for over thirty years. Henry was a fun loving man who enjoyed life and those he encircled. In his free time, he would visit the mountains of Colorado enjoying its beauty and becoming one with nature. He often talked about the snowcapped mountains and enjoyed taking visitors up to show them how beautiful it was. He was a man who loved to dress up, listen to jazz and blues, visit New York City and to roller skate. His closest friends, Dale Lee McDowell, William Anderson who were friends from New Jersey and Thomas, whom he called "Bro. Richmond" who lives in Denver, will miss the camaraderie they all shared together and the fact that he was a true and genuine friend. He will be missed by all who were fortunate enough to have known this kind and wonderful man. To know Henry was to love him. Henry Cyril Thomas departed this life to the embrace of the Lord on March 8, 2013, in Glendale, Colorado. Those left to cherish his memory and mourn his loss include a brother, Peter Marshall Earl Hayes of Linden, NJ; two sisters, Muriel M. Hayes Johnson and Trunice K. (John) Thomas Hunter all of Vauxhall, NJ; grandmother, Julia Perkins; his first love, Audrey "Netta" Rice; stepfather, Roland Newcombe; five nieces, Zaykeya Thomas, Zebradedra Hunter, Erica Hayes, Lori Hayes and Quiana Hayes; one nephew, Ward Matthew Manning; his great nephew, Zohn Coles; one godson, Cyril; one god-daughter, Raisha Jones; his uncle, Harry Prather and "cuz" Gloria Watkins and a host of other relatives and friends in both New Jersey and Colorado.
