GLENN D. LANDRUM
Sunrise November 22, 1950 - Sunset July 16, 2019
On November 22, 1950, Glenn was born, in Denver, Colorado to Henry Smith and Helen A. Landrum. He was third of four sons born into this family. Glenn was educated in the Denver Public School System, where he attended Mitchell Elementary, Cole Junior High School and earned his GED from Manual High School in 1968.
Following high school Glenn was drafted by the Armed Forces and served in the United States Maine Corp. While serving our country, he was stationed in Japan. Upon completing his tour of duty, Glenn was honorably discharged from the Marine Corp and he returned to Denver.
Growing up, Glenn had big dreams. He was academically gifted, achieving a 4.0 grade point average in elementary school. At one time he had a desire to become a doctor. He lost interest in the medical field when he found out doctor's made house calls. He had an infectious laugh, a great smile adorned with dimples. He had a spirit of compassion and generosity. Glenn enjoyed music, playing chess, and fine art, frequently visiting the galleries.
Over the years he also perfected his culinary skills and he was an excellent cook. Glenn's home was the center during the holidays. He loved to host family gatherings where everyone was able to partake of the delicious meals that Glenn would prepare using the best of ingredients the most important being Love. He sometimes participated in the 100 Men Who Cook annual event.
Throughout his life Glenn worked in fields that were of interest to him. He tried his hand at being a business owner, by opening a lounge in Capitol Hill called the Tongue's Untied. He went to Real Estate school, he was a draftsman, worked as an engineer and millwright apprentice. Where ever he worked his coworkers thought highly of him because of his friendly and professional approach to the job.
Glenn began to experience some health issues in his early 40's. He suffered from heart disease that eventually resulted in him becoming medically disabled. He departed this life on July 16, 2019 at Rose Medical Center. He is proceeded in death by his parents Henry Smith and Helen Landrum, his brother James C. Landrum, Jr. and his childhood best friend Oneta Hawkins-Hollowell.
Left to cherish his memory are two brothers Michael A. Tinsley and Dewayne L. Landrum, niece Dyamond Landrum, other relatives and loyal friends.
Today is full of memories of a Brother laid to rest
And every single one of them is filled with happiness
For you were someone special always such a joy to know
And there was so much pain when it was time to let you go
