Precious Memories
Geneva “Peaches” Green
We are confident, yes, well pleased rather to be absent from the
body and to be present with the Lord. 2 Corinthians 5:8
Geneva Green affectionately called “Peaches” by family and friends was born on September 27, 1929, in Richmond, Texas to her parents, Robert Miller, Sr. and Ella Mae Guy. She was the second child born in the family. She was raised surrounded by her brothers and sisters. As a child, she loved being around her family, playing near the local creek, and riding in her father’s limo, she was a true daddy’s girl. Her family remembers she didn’t mind sticking up for her brothers.
In 1947, Geneva wed Charles Green in Galveston, Texas. To this union, five children, Tyrone, Charles, Jr., Kristina, David, and Brenda were born. She later married, Raymond Jones in Denver, Colorado. There were no children born to this union. Geneva was a loving and devoted mother, who took great pride in the care and nurture of her family. Kristina fondly remembers her mother as her best friend. The bond shared between the two was undeniable. They loved traveling together, sightseeing, visiting the hills, shopping, and teaching her many of life’s lessons. She was later blessed with eight grandchildren, Trina, Lester, Jr., Amanda, Charles, Charlene, Thomas, Timothy; 26 great grandchildren; 20 great great grandchildren, and 8 great great great grandchildren who all were an additional source of joy and pride in her life. They lovingly called her “Grandma or Grandma Green” and fondly remember all the precious moments they shared together.
Geneva was a Homemaker first but has worked for the City and County of Denver as a Bus Assistant, the Dog and Horse Track as a Greeter, and a Security Guard. Wherever employed, she was hard working, dedicated, and performed her duties with a spirit of excellence.
A woman of faith and belief in the Lord, Geneva was a faithful and dedicated member of St. Stephen Missionary Baptist Church. At the time of her passing, she had been a member for over forty years.
Geneva was a fun-loving woman, who enjoyed life and those she encircled. In her free time, she enjoyed fishing, traveling, listening to music, spending quality time with family, and of course, “shopping till she dropped.” Her closest friend, Harold Gould will miss the many special times they shared together. She will be missed for all the love and care she gave everyone, her pep talks, and she always telling the truth. To know Geneva was to love her.
She is preceded in death by three of her children, Charles, Brenda, Tyrone; her parents, Robert, and Ella Mae; siblings, Robert Jr., Joe, Shirley, and Eura Mae.
Geneva “Peaches” Green departed this life to the embrace of the Lord, on September 13, 2023, in her home in Denver, Colorado. Those left to cherish her memory and mourn her loss include her daughter, Kristina J. Green of Denver, Colorado; her son, David (Lisa) Green of Aurora, Colorado; 2 brothers, Jerry (Mary) Waddles of Houston, Texas and Perry Waddles of Denver, Colorado; 8 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; 20 great great grandchildren; and 8 great great great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and many friends.
