LIFE’S JOURNEY

Doris Lillian Woulard

Doris Lillian Woulard was born May 22, 1941, in Muskogee Oklahoma to the late Johnnie and Alonzo Moore Sr.  Doris was the youngest of three children, Alonzo Moore Jr. and Helen Colbert, both who preceded her in death.  Doris completed her early education in the Muskogee County School District.  After relocating to Denver Colorado, she graduated from Manual Senior High School, later returning to Oklahoma to obtain her cosmetology and nursing certification at the Manuel Training Center.  She completed the remainder of her formal education at the University of Colorado at Denver.

On May 31, 1977, Doris married the love of her life and helpmate of 46 years, Henry “Tony” Woulard.  Tony adored Doris, affectionately called her “Sweets” and referred to her as his Queen and better half.  To this union a blended family was formed with four daughters and two sons.

Doris loved helping people and was a true encourager.  She opened her home to those in need and never met a stranger.  Even though she only had two children she was a mother to many and was lovingly called “Mama D”, amongst many other nicknames like “Smiley”, “Mustang Sally”, and “Nana”.   Doris was a true delight to be around, with an infectious laugh, beautiful smile, and a heart of gold.

Doris had an array of hobbies.  She followed in the footsteps of her mother and became an excellent cook.  Doris cooked with passion and love and every dish was perfection.  Doris was quick to put a hem in your pants or a button on your blouse.  Doris loved to fish but only from the bank!!!  She needed her feet to be on solid ground.  Doris was a superior interior decorator and if you ever visited her home you would know . . . her home was her sanctuary.  Doris loved antiques whether buying them or restoring them herself.  Her gardening skills would rival any professional gardener and she was meticulous about the arrangement and care of her yard.  Doris loved spending time with family and friends either sitting in the garage or having movie night with Tony in the den.  The hobby that gave her the biggest thrill was revving her engine at the stop light to invite you to a race.

In her career, Doris held many positions supporting community efforts throughout Colorado.  Doris was a counselor at Project COPE, a teenage pregnant awareness counselor at TAP-A-WARE, a juvenile probation court advocate in Arapahoe County, a Police officer and Traffic Investigator for the City of Aurora, a Medical Technician with Kaiser Permanente, and janitorial services business owner.

Mrs. Doris Lillian Woulard, age 82, departed this life on Friday October 20, 2023, at Parker Adventist Hospital in Parker Colorado.

Her beautiful life will forever be cherished by her husband, Tony Woulard Aurora, CO; daughters, Tamesha Woulard Temescal Valley, CA., Shannon Woulard-Baldwin (Lisa) Miramar, FL, Keisha Napue Aurora, CO., N’neka Woulard Lewisville, TX;  sons,

Don’t cry for me.
I will be okay.
Heaven is my home now,
and this is where I’ll stay.

Don’t cry for me.
I’m where I belong.
I want you to be happy
and try to stay strong.

Don’t cry for me.
It was just my time,
but I will see you someday
on the other side.

Don’t cry for me.
I am not alone.
The angels are with me
to welcome me home.

Don’t cry for me,
for I have no fear.
All my pain is gone,
and Jesus took my tears.

Don’t cry for me.
This is not the end.
I’ll be waiting here for you
when we meet again
