  A Godly Woman

*Beatrice Curlie Pyant, affectionately cherished as “Curlie Bea,” graced this world as a beacon of light and love on May 9, 1926, in Fort Worth, Texas. The only child of Alton W. Perry and Bertha Franklin Perry, her beginnings were humble yet vibrant. In 1937, the Perry family made their way to the picturesque city of Denver, Colorado, where she blossomed at Whittier Grade School, Cole Jr. High School, and Manuel High School. A spirited young woman, she excelled academically, captained the girls’ basketball team, and honed her musical skills through piano lessons, all while captivating hearts with her outgoing personality and warm smile.Upon graduation, Beatrice embarked on a new journey at Denver University, majoring in business administration. In 1946, fate intertwined her life with Harry Lilbum Booker, forging a union blessed with seven beloved children: Debra, Harry, Delora, Maebertha, Dorene, Darrell, and Darwin. At just 20, Sis. Beatrice Booker surrendered her life to God and began her remarkable spiritual voyage. In 1955, responding to a divine calling, the Booker family relocated to Marion, Ohio, where they played pivotal roles in founding the Main Street Church of God in Christ and establishing the Delaware District, guided by the wisdom of Bishop Maddox. During these transformative years, Beatrice became a licensed Evangelist Missionary, nurturing her children’s talents and bringing joy through the harmonious melodies of “The Bookerettes.”In 1960, after her marriage dissolved, Beatrice returned to Denver to continue her faith-filled journey. She found solace and community at the Ogden Street Church of God in Christ, later serving at Globeville Church of God in Christ under Elder Eugene Graham. Her contributions radiated far beyond the church walls, as she became a pillar of strength and compassion within the community.Mother Beatrice Pyant, revered as the epitome of a virtuous woman, approached life with grace amidst turmoil. Her peaceful demeanor brought calm to chaos, as she effortlessly identified needs and provided nurturing, kindness, and understanding. With her infectious humor and genuine love for others, she uplifted spirits, instilling hope and confidence. Her values of honesty, respect, and service shaped the lives of countless individuals, leaving an indelible imprint upon their hearts. Her unwavering devotion to the Lord was beautifully expressed through her cherished songs, “Just Another Day That The Lord Has Kept Me” and “I’m Saved And I Know That I Am.” A guiding light in her life was Psalm 121: “I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the LORD.” She often shared the wisdom of her heart through memorable phrases, encouraging others to “Put a little Jesus in your pocket” and “Trust Jesus all the time.”In 1966, love smiled upon her once more as she married Elder Clarence E. Pyant, Sr., adding two beloved sons, Clarence, Jr. and Gregory S. Pyant to her family. Active in her faith, she served tirelessly at Bethel Church of God in Christ under various leaders, including Superintendent Booker McMillan and Pastor Edward Holmes. For almost eight decades, she was dedicated to God’s service, holding numerous leadership positions, including Chairman of the Planning Committee for Colorado State Women’s Department and Jurisdictional President of the Pastors, Elders, Ministers' Wives and Widows Unit.Mother Beatrice Pyant’s legacy of wisdom, integrity, and love was recognized and revered throughout the Jurisdiction of Colorado, particularly in the Northeast District, where she embodied the spirit of service.
