Obituary

Devin Lyons Johnson was born on April 30, 1985, in Denver, Colorado to his parents, Dionne Michelle Johnson and Marlin Wayne Rogers. He was raised by his grandparents and grew up around his siblings, Anthony, Lonnie, Dorrien, Chevaz, Donye, and Deandrea.

As a child, Devin loved playing basketball, he spent the majority of his summers playing at the park. If he wasn’t playing basketball, he was spending quality time with his uncle David. Some of the fondest memories include going out to the airport to watch airplanes take off, waiting for his grandpa to bring McDonald’s to school for lunch, and going to Dodge City to visit family with his grandparents.

Devin was educated through Denver Public Schools, he graduated from Montbello High School, where he earned numerous awards and played basketball at a high level. He later devoted many years to coaching, sharing his knowledge and love for the game to younger generations. Eager to advance his skills, Devin was in the process of obtaining an entomology degree, reflecting his interest in science and the natural world.

Devin achieved the status of a qualified supervisor and secured a license in pest control. Shortly after becoming licensed, he took the bold step of starting his own company (DOA Pest Control), a testament to his entrepreneurial spirit.

Devin was the devout husband of Gigi Johnson, the couple were joined in holy matrimony on November 11, 2021 at The Chapel of the Flowers in Las Vegas, Nevada. They were blessed with Jaylee and Jonathan “Johnny” Johnson (Montoya). The family enjoyed many wonderful trips together including going to Las Vegas and Florida. Devin enjoyed playing video games with his children, collecting sports cards and going to amusement parks. They especially enjoyed that he would pick them up from school in all kinds of cool vehicles.

Known for his vibrant personality, Devin was widely recognized as the life of the party—a person who brought energy and joy to every gathering. His supportive nature made him a valued friend and family member. Outside of work, Devin enjoyed spending quality time with his friends including, Tremayne West and Khalid Barnes, traveling, and listening to music.

Devin is survived by his loving wife, Gigi Johnson; their children, Jaylee and Jonathan “Johnny”; his mother, Dionne Michelle Johnson; his siblings Anthony Sawyer, Lonnie Wright, Dorrien Wright, Donye Johnson and Deandrea Johnson and Chevaz Johnson; aunt, Diana Smith; his uncles, David Johnson and Darren Johnson; step-mother, Melissa Rogers; many additional family members and friends.
