Darleen Jefferson

September 26, 1938 — January 28, 2023

Denver, CO

Darleen Delores Jefferson was born to her parents, Dora and Floyd Anderson, on September 26, 1938 in St. Louis, MO. She was one of five children born to this union and was raised with her siblings, Gary, Charles, Rogertha and Carolyn. She was educated through St. Louis Public Schools where she attended, and later graduated from McKinley High School in 1957.

After graduating, Darleen entered into the professional field, working as a Secretary. She found employment through the State of Missouri  at Malcolm Bliss Hospital. She developed a great relationship with her co-workers, and they would get together to play cards and drink her creative cocktails AKA "Green Frogs"

Darleen gained a source of pride and joy, with the birth of her sons, Brion and Courtney. She was later blessed with the birth of her grandchildren, Brion, Jr., Brennen, Brionna, DeMetri (Anthony), LaShonda (Keith), Breland, Julian, Alexis, Briaja, Courtney, Jr, and 15 great-grandchildren. Her grandchildren recall her sending birthday cards yearly with one dollar bills in them. She loved to spoil them by picking them up from school, and buy them Chinese food as an after school snack. One common question that she would ask them as they got older was if they were married and had children yet.

In her free time, she enjoyed hanging out with her bestfriend, Maybeline Johnson, watching game shows and Law and Order, playing cards,  listening to Al Green, as well as watching baseball and figure skating. At one time, she even belonged to a bowling league. Most importantly, she enjoyed hanging out with family and drinking her "Green Frogs".

Those that know her best describe her as loving, caring, protective, feisty, outspoken and very generous. She will truly be missed.

Darleen passed away peacefully on January 28, 2023. Those left to cherish her memory include her sons, Brion (JaNiece) and Courtney (GregShunda); sisters, Rogertha and Carolyn; brother, Gary; 10 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildre, 1 aunt; a devoted bestfriend, and numerous, nieces and nephews.
