Chastin Elliott McKeel

August 13, 1984 — May 20, 2025

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Chastin Elliott McKeel, who was called to be with the Lord on May 20, 2025, at the age of 40. Chastin was a beloved son, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin, and friend who touched the lives of many with his kindness, adventurous spirit, and unwavering love for those around him.

Born in Los Angeles, California, August 13, 1984, Chastin embraced life with passion and energy. He lived in various cities—including Chicago, Indianapolis, Atlanta, and most recently relocated to Denver, Colorado where he enjoyed working as Aviation Technician in the Airline Industry. He always carried with him a love for sports, movement, and connection. He graduated from California State University, Fullerton, in 2010 with a bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology (Sports Studies) and was a proud member of the track team, later coaching and mentoring young athletes at Mira Costa High School, his alma mater.

Chastin was a true sports enthusiast, deeply knowledgeable about all types of games and dedicated to supporting his favorite teams—the Seattle Mariners, San Francisco 49ers, and Miami Heat. He never missed a chance to showcase his team spirit. His love for competition extended beyond watching and coaching; he embraced all activities that involved movement, speed, and thrill, from skateboarding and motorcycling to skiing and ice hockey.

Beyond his love for sports, Chastin was known for his kind heart, strong will, and infectious sense of humor. He had an uncanny ability to connect with children, who were naturally drawn to his playful and fun-loving nature. His love for animals, especially his cherished cat Zero for 13+ years, was undeniable— Zero adored him just as much in return.

Chastin was preceded in death by his older brother, Christian, with whom he shared a deep and special bond and his grandparents Clabrone Jr. & Lucille McKeel and William & Marzelle Jones. He is survived by his loving parents, Cheryll Hines and Clabrone McKeel III; brothers Clabrone McKeel IV and Joseph Hines; aunts Marjorie Jones and Donna Campbell; Uncle Vincent Jo-Nes; niece Ja’Zmin McKeel; extended family Toy, Kazumi & Kenji Igus, and a host of cousins, family and dear friends.

Chastin’s absence leaves a void that can never be replaced, but his legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew him. His laughter, warmth, and adventurous spirit will be deeply missed.

This is not goodbye but rather, “See you later.” Rest in Peace!

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

“Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it.” – Ecclesiastes 12:7
