Obituary
It is with profound love and sorrow that we share the news of the passing of our cherished grandfather, Charlie Watson, who embarked on his eternal journey on January 31st, 2026.
Born on November 28, 1943, in Glen Allan, Mississippi, Charlie lived a life imbued with remarkable courage, steadfast faith, and an unwavering commitment to both his family and community. He honorably served our nation for nine years as an Airborne Ranger in the Army, earning two Purple Hearts and a Bronze Star for his valor and sacrifice. His military service exemplified the strength, discipline, and deep spirituality that illuminated his life’s path.
Charlie was a beacon of resilience, tackling the trials of life with unyielding determination and faith, refusing to let hardships define him. On February 19th, he would have celebrated an inspiring 40 years of sobriety—an extraordinary testament to his perseverance, personal healing, and commitment to growth. His journey was a beacon of hope for many, demonstrating that redemption and restoration are ever within reach.
A man of profound faith, Charlie was a devoted prayer warrior who interceded not only for himself but for all those around him. In times of uncertainty, worry, or grief, he turned to God and encouraged others to seek His solace. His unshakeable faith guided him through every season of life.
Known for his witty humor, unwavering will, and keen intellect, Charlie was tough, hardworking, and no one’s fool. Yet, beneath his formidable exterior lay a gentle heart overflowing with love. As a grandfather, father, brother, uncle, and friend, he was simply exceptional.
He shared a uniquely special bond with his family—his daughter was his faithful partner, his sister his vital support, and his beloved son held a place of pride in his heart. His grandson was his closest confidant, while his three granddaughters filled his life with joy and laughter. The love he had for his great-grandchildren was profound, as he took immense pride in each of them, providing guidance, mirth, and unconditional affection.
To those fortunate enough to know him, Charlie was a pillar of comfort, wisdom, and reassurance. His presence brought peace, and his voice offered strength. He was the one you could count on, rely upon, and trust without hesitation.
Charlie leaves behind a legacy of faith, fortitude, service, and love. He reminds us all that though we may stumble, through God’s grace and the support of our loved ones, we can rise again, stronger and renewed.
He is survived by his beloved Lottie Jean Sanders and Freddie, and preceded in death by his mother, Lucille; father, Charlie Sr.; and brothers Frank, George, Eddie (his twin), Cornelius, Tony, and Ollie.
A celebration of his magnificent life will take place on February 23rd at 10:30 AM at 2050 North Uinta St., Denver, Colorado, followed by a second service at Fort Logan Cemetery at 1:30 PM. Family and friends are warmly invited to gather in remembrance of his extraordinary life and enduring legacy.
Though our hearts are heavy with sadness, we find solace knowing that Charlie is now at peace, reunited with his loved ones, and cradled in God’s eternal embrace.
“Well done, good and faithful servant.”
