LIFE'S JOURNEY

                                                                Rev. Buford Benton

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Jeremiah 29:11

Reverend Benton experienced and embraced transitions through every season of his life with each step moving him ever closer to glory with our Lord Jesus Christ. He began his transformative Journey from humble beginnings, raised in Conway, Arkansas as a third child of the late Sanford and Lucille Benton. Rev. Benton grew up on a farm in Conway Arkansas where he learned to farm cotton, soy beans and produce that provided that essential commodities and food to family, friends and nearby neighbors. He was an avid fisherman and small-game hunter. In 1955, Rev. Benton joined the U. S. Army and attained the rank of Specialist Third Class (SP3) while stationed in North Korea for two years. After his honorable discharge from the Army, he established his new roots in Denver, Colorado. In addition to his military service, he worked for Burlington Railroad for 14 years, environmental services at St. Anthony Hospital for nearly 30 years, and St Joseph Hospital for 10 years.

During this period of time, he discovered a deeper spiritual calling. He became an ordained minister at Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church, dedicating his life to preaching the gospel and serving his family and community.

Reverend Benton’s older siblings, Alice French and Juanita Jackson transitioned into glory before him. Reverend Benton is survived by his current wife Mrs. Alma Jean Catholic Benton of Denver Colorado.
