Brett Theodore Jones was born on April 5, 1961 in Pueblo, Colorado.
He was reared in the Park Hill neighborhood with his mother Barbara, father Carl (preceded in passing ), and his three sisters Karen, Tanoa, and Nikki.
Brett also had an amazing stepfather, Dean Griffin (preceded in passing), who surely had to step up his game when Brett entered the scene. Brett also gained two bonus brothers, Alec and Lance Griffin. Brett took on a special role in the family—he was the protector of his mother and sisters. He loved them fiercely and would have fought off any dragon for them.
Brett graduated from George Washington High School in 1979. After that, he dabbled in trucking, construction, and eventually found his way into the grocery industry.
He experienced two monumental days: first came the birth of his daughter in 1981, and then in 2013, he welcomed his granddaughter into the world. He often said these were two of the best days of his life. And these two ladies hung the sun and the moon in his eyes.
Brett loved deeply! He never met a stranger—just potential friends and family. He’d give anyone the shirt off his back. His love for animals made him amazing with dogs and all animals. His calm spirit and gentle soul allowed animals to trust him.
He enjoyed nature, cooking up a storm (he loved to cook beans and green chili), and making people laugh—especially by aggravating them just enough to get you to roll your eyes so he could say, “Ways out!” And then you would both laugh. His heart was big and his appetite for life was unmatched.
On April 2, 2025, Brett was called home. He leaves behind his beloved mother Barbara Griffin; three sisters—Karen Jones, Nikki (Sean) Trammell, Tanoa (Robert) Poirier; two bonus-brothers—Alec and Lance Griffin; four nephews—Verdel Jones and Christopher Jones, Parker Trammell and Phoenix Trammell; one niece—Danielle Jones; his only child Kandis A. Webb; and his granddaughter Kalyssa L. Njie.
Remember Brett not just with tears but with laughter—because if there’s one thing he taught us, it’s that life is too short not to enjoy every moment... preferably with a cold beer in hand!
Rest easy, Brett. We’ll keep your legacy alive with love and laughter and all the fond memories that only you could have brought to our lives. We will Love you forever.
If you're planning to attend Brett's memorial service, please wear blue - any shade of blue.
