In Loving Memory of Barbara Ann Reynolds
August 15, 1949 – January 26, 2026
With hearts full of love and gratitude, we celebrate the remarkable life of Barbara Ann Reynolds, a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, friend, and woman of deep faith whose warmth, laughter, and wisdom touched the lives of all who knew her.
Early Life
Barbara was born in Denver, Colorado to Sterling Hatch, Sr. and Ruthie Hatch. She was educated in the Denver Public Schools and graduated from Manual High School in 1967. Growing up as part of a close-knit family, Barbara developed the strong values of faith, hard work, and devotion to family that would define her entire life.
Marriage & Family
In 1968, Barbara was joined in matrimony to Donald Dean Reynolds in Denver, Colorado. Together they raised two sons, Donald and Damin, who were the pride and joy of her life. Barbara poured herself into motherhood, raising her boys with love, wisdom, and high expectations. She was immensely proud of their accomplishments—Donald, who earned both a master’s of business administration and a law degree from UCLA, and Damin, who built a career as an entrepreneur in the trucking industry. In later years, her grandchildren Dayvala and Ma’Have brought her tremendous joy.
A Trailblazing Career
Barbara joined United Airlines in 1968 as a runner and sorter, picking up reservation cards from conveyor belts and sorting them by departure dates. From that humble beginning, she built an extraordinary career spanning three decades in the travel industry. She was promoted to Reservations sales representative and then moved to the Mainliner Desk, where she worked directly with travel agents. In 1979, Barbara was among the first reservations agents in Denver selected to assist travel agents through the newly created Apollo Help Desk. She spent the next nineteen years in the customer service organization in Denver, where she distinguished herself through her dedication, expertise and genuine care for those she served. During this time, she held numerous positions of increasing responsibility, including Trainer, Apollo Service Representative, Automation Specialist, Inside Account Manager, Automation Support Representative, Implementation Specialist, and ultimately Customer Network Services Project Manager. Barbara’s excellence was widely recognized. She received the 1992 Apollo Outstanding Contribution Award and the Apollo All the Way Awards in both 1995 and 1996. Of all her accolades, her most cherished honors were the special recognition awards she received from her peers—a testament to the respect and admiration she earned from those who worked alongside her. Barbara retired from Galileo International in 1998, closing a brilliant chapter of service and achievement in the travel industry.
Faith & Service
Barbara was a faithful and devoted member of New Hope Baptist Church, where her service and leadership left a lasting mark. She served as President of the New Hope Baptist Church Ushers and extended her dedication beyond her local congregation by serving as First Vice President of the Colorado United Church Ushers Association. She also served as a devoted member of the Viola Harris Missionary Society. Her commitment to her church and her community reflected the depth of her faith and her belief in the power of service. Barbara was also deeply involved in her community. She was a proud member of the Montbello High School Booster Club beginning in 1987, where she served for many years as president, treasurer, and fund-raiser chairperson, always championing the young people in her community.
A Life Well Lived
Barbara was a woman who found joy in life’s simple pleasures. She loved working in her garden, playing cards with her friends, enjoying lunches with her girlfriends, sewing, and remodeling her home. She was full of joy, laughter, and wisdom. Barbara was the glue that held her family together—the one everyone turned to, the one who made every gathering brighter and the one whose love was felt in every room she entered. Her circle of dear friends—Joyce Romero (deceased), Donna Burrell, Beverly Bell Buckmon, Kenny McVey, Randy Simmons, Jennifer Ford Keel, Donna Murphy, and Pat Cowan, —knew her as a loyal, generous and loving companion. Barbara’s friendship was a gift, and those bonds endured through all the seasons of life.
Preceded in Death
Barbara was preceded in death by her father, Sterling Hatch, Sr.; her mother, Ruthie Hatch; her stepmother, Helen Hatch; her sisters, Penny Carol Jackson and Brunette Sledge; her niece, Floresha Hatch; and her nephew, Derrick Ratcliff.
Cherishing Her Memory
Those left to cherish her memory and mourn her loss include her two devoted sons, Donald Biron Reynolds (Shea) and Damin Larin Reynolds; her beloved grandson, Dayvala Isaiahs Reynolds; her precious granddaughter, Ma’Have Ida Reynolds; her step-granddaughter, Sekhai Callier; her brothers, Sterling Hatch, Jr. (Olivia) and Fredrich Allen Hatch (Patricia); her nieces, Aneisha Hatch, Deja S. Hatch, Shannin R. Rick (Casey), and Onya Hendricks; her grand niece, Deshae’ Ratcliff; her nephews, Sterling Hatch III (Bre’anna), Fredrich A. Hatch Jr., and Ronnie Hatch; her cousins, Hattie May Finch, Sophia Hendricks, Wanda Harris, and Josephine Freeman; her sisters-in-law, Barbara A. Hatch, Lori Annette Reynolds, and Christie Alford (Mark); and a host of grand nieces, grand nephews, cousins, and beloved friends.
“She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come. She speaks with wisdom, and faithful instruction is on her tongue. She watches over the affairs of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness. Her children arise and call her blessed.”
— Proverbs 31:25-28 (NIV)
Rest in peace, dear Barbara. Your love, your laughter, and your light will live on in all of us.
