Alfred Harris
Born on July 22, 1953, in Brinkley, Arkansas, to John Henry Harris and Josephine Fennell-Harris, Alfred was a reflection of love and faith from his earliest days. His mother instilled in him a deep reverence for God, and he embraced his faith within the welcoming walls of First Missionary Baptist Church, even calling in from afar to listen to Pastor Byrd's sermons.
Alfred's journey through life led him through various paths, from odd jobs in his youth to a flourishing career as a jack of all trades. He proudly wore many hats, working as a welder at Hale Manufacturing, and contributing to the teams at Creighton University, Frontier Airlines, FedEx, and the Veterans’ Administration after relocating to Denver with Patricia.
A man of warmth and approachability, Alfred’s infectious laughter and quick wit formed bridges of connection with friends, family, and even strangers. He thrived on human connection, whether indulging in spirited games of cards or sharing a quiet afternoon enjoying the beauty of nature
As a proud father, Alfred cherished his daughter Serena Walton, who forever remained the apple of his eye. Though her time on earth was all too brief, the bond they shared filled his life with joy and pride.
On a warm June evening in 2005, amidst the laughter and camaraderie at Marions’ Lounge in Denver, Colorado, fate introduced Alfred Harris to the love of his life. A vibrant member of the fast-pitch softball team from Omaha, he approached Patricia Clark with a captivating charm that sparked a connection fueled by humor and shared stories. They quickly discovered they were both middle children with daughters, their hearts intertwined by the threads of family and laughter.
After four months of tender long-distance conversations, love bloomed, leading to a cherished union on August 16, 2009. Surrounded by loved ones, Elder Brenda F. Clark officiated a beautiful ceremony in their backyard, where joy and commitment intertwined to begin their journey together. Their years together were adorned with travels, renovations, and family gatherings, creating a tapestry of shared experiences and loving memories.
However, the vibrant rhythm of their life together was interrupted in August 2024 when illness knocked on their door. After a daunting journey through doctors and treatments, Alfred was diagnosed with stomach cancer. Through chemotherapy and radiation, he found newfound strength and faith, renewing his relationship with Jesus Christ during this trying chapter, guided by spiritual conversations with Cousin Pastor Bobbie Miller.
Alfred’s courageous battle came to a peaceful close on August 18, 2025, as he drew his last breath surrounded by the love of his life, Patricia. In those final moments, the world lost a remarkable man, but his spirit remains forever etched in the hearts of those who had the honor of knowing him.
“And Time yielded unto Eternity . . .” On Monday morning, August 18, 2025, at Rose Medical Center in Denver, CO, Alfred Harris, 72, closed his eyes for the final time as he exited this earthly existence. He was preceded in death by his daughter, (Serena Walton), his parents (John Henry Harris and Josephine Harris-White), grandparents (Oscar Fennell and Calvaya “Carrie” Exonia McNary-Fennell) his stepfathers (Qdalas Whitaker, Sr. and Odell White), three brothers (Arvell Bondon – at age 6 months, Clarence Harris, and Theado Turnage), and two sisters (Carrie Harris-Hardin and Sarah Bondon-White).
**Rest in Peace, Alfred. Your legacy of love lives on.**
