After high school Albert served in the armed forces. He was an Army soldier. During his time in the Army he was sent to serve a tour in Viet Nam.

After coming to Denver the family first joined St Stephen’s Baptist Church, under leadership of late Rev. C. A. Miller. Then moved their membership to Zion Baptist Church under leadership of the late Rev. W. T. Logging. As a young man at Zion Albert was a member of several youth Auxiliary groups including the youth choir and young adult ministry.
