Ruben Trevino

March 27, 1959 — August 12, 2015

Ruben Trevino was born on March 27, 1959, in Reynosa, Tamaulipas to his parents, Gilberto Hernandez Trevino, and Maria Alicia Zamora Trevino. Ruben was the fifth child born to this union. Growing up, he enjoyed the company of his brothers, Gilbert, Joe, Guillermo, and Frank, and his sisters, Aurora, Tivi, Elva, and Susie. They remember him constantly joking and playing pranks on them as children. While Ruben was young, he worked in the fielding driving a tractor, standing up of course because he was so small. Ruben completed his formal education in the Denver Public School System, before starting his career as a Window Foreman Supervisor. Ruben worked for Champion Windows, Crestmark, and Allenco. He was always loved as a supervisor. The mothers on the job would make it a point to bring him lunch. While Ruben was working at Crestmark, he met a young lady, Lucy Lopez. In 1977, the two married in Denver, Colorado. Lucy remembers being so happy to purchase their own home together. On December 12, 1982, Ruben became the proud father of his beautiful baby girl, Crystal K. Rivera. She remembers meeting her father and Lucy for the first time. She would pick him up to bond and spend time with him on Father's Day. Ruben was later blessed with 4 grandchildren, Evaleena, Fernando, Gianna, and Faustino. He would lovingly call them, "The Little Babies." They remember grandpa making them walk to McDonald's in the hot summer heat. Ruben was an active member of Templo Zion in East Denver. His church family will greatly miss him. In his free time, Ruben enjoyed building and working construction whenever his help was needed. He also loved spending time with Johnny Salas, Pedro Moreno, Rudy Lopez, Dave Garcia, Eddie Cavazos, Rick Cavazos, Larry Cavazos, Martin Cabral, and William Lopez. They will all miss his laugh, and his sense of humor. He always talked with a smile. His nieces and nephews remember always getting, "the treatment" as kids. Ruben was preceded in death by his father, Gilberto Hernandez Trevino. On August 12, 2015, Ruben departed this life in Aurora, Colorado at University Hospital. He leaves to cherish his memory and to mourn his loss his daughter, Crystal K (Francisco) Rivera; his mother, Maria Alicia Trevino; his brothers, Gilbert Trevino, Joe L. Trevino, Guillermo Trevino, Frank Trevino; his sisters, Aurora, Cortez-Bromley, Tivi Hood, Elva A. Trevino-Cruz, and Susie Soroka; his grandchildren, Evaleena J. Duran, Fernando A. Duran, Gianna R. Rivera, Faustino A. Rivera; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and many friends.
