The life of Roberta Brantley began when she was born on June 20, 1932, in Baxley, Georgia to her parents, Lemon Brantley and Pearly Mae Henry. She was raised by her Grandmother, Josephine Brantley. She always felt the need to take care of her brothers, Cornell and Jessie Jr. and her sisters, Mary L., Rozetta, Betty, Jessie Mae, and Diane. Roberta's childhood was spent being a mother to her siblings and always trying to keep them happy. She and her brother Cornell would spend many hours looking for four-leaf clovers, they loved it because this was their special time together. Roberta attended public school in Baxley, Georgia, after graduating from high school Roberta and the family moved to Jacksonville, Florida, where she was blessed with her only child a son, Robert L. Moss, the love of her life. She also met the love and rock of her life Harry Edwards. They united in holy matrimony on February 28, 1955, on this day he became a proud husband and father. The family shared many happy and precious moments together. He was her constant companion and caregiver. Roberta was a housewife who loved her family. Her greatest joy was when she became a grandmother. Kenya, Tashmecia and Robert were an additional source of joy and pride in her life. She was lovingly called "Grandma". "Grandma Edwards" as she was called by all the children in the family, was the family babysitter until her health began to fell. She was loved always greeting them with a hug and smile, they truly LOVED her. Roberta loved traveling taking many vacations to Florida, and California. Her grandchildren remember the Disneyland vacations, her good cooking, going shopping, keeping up with the soap operas, and most of all her being there for them at all times. A woman of faith and belief in the Lord, Roberta has been a member of Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church for some thirty plus years. She was a member of the Women Ministry, and the Shiloh Usher Board. She loved the Lord and as her health began to fell and she could no longer attended church she constantly stated "I wish I could go to church" Roberta was a fun loving woman who enjoyed life and those she encircled, she loved to bowl, and was a member of the "Strikette Bowling Club", the Just Us Social Club, and attended many Masonic functions with her husband. She loved Christmas, decorating her home and having friends over for dinner, attending Christmas celebrations and just being with her best friends, Dorothy Brown, Annette Harris and Jan Robinson, she was a sincere friend. A beautiful woman who loved to be with family and friends that was her joy. She was a great Wife, Mother, Grandmother and Friend to know Roberta was to love her. Roberta was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Edwards, grandmother, Josephine Brantley, parents, Lemon and Pearly Mae Brantley, brother, Jessie Jr, and sister, Mary L. Butler. The life journey of Roberta Edwards ended on February 15, 2015, in Denver, Colorado. She leaves to cherish her memory, her son. Robert L. (Audrey) Moss; a brother, Cornell (Arstella) Brantley; sisters, Rozetta Alford, Jesse M . (Isljzel) Bradley; Diane (Eddie) Brown; her grandchildren, Kenya R. Johnson, Tashmecia P. (Chris) Moss, Robert K. Moss; four great-grandchildren, Breashelle R. Moss, Jaelynn C. Smith, Jean Marquris D. Stewart, Elijah E. Belcher; one great-great grandchild, Mykah M. Moss; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.
