Richard Watkins

April 7, 1935 — June 4, 2014

Richard Bodine Watkins was born in April 7, 1935, in Englewood, Colorado to his parents, Frank Earl Watkins and Annetta Cannon Watkins. He was raised surrounded by his brothers, Frank, Leonard, Williams and his sisters, Charlise, Mary, Betty, Gloria and Ilene. As a child, he loved fishing and spending quality time with his friends. Richard received his formal education in Denver. He attended Cole Jr. High School and he graduated from Manual Arts High School. He met the love of his life Guadalupe Trejo, at the Uptown Theater in Denver. On October 15, 1963, they exchanged vows uniting them in holy matrimony. Guadalupe remembers her husband as loving, giving and always available when needed. They shared many happy and precious moments together. To this union, Richard and Sean were born. He was later blessed with nine grandchildren Aujna, Naja, Noheya, the twins: David, and Daniel, Tiffany, Vincent, Thorn, and Brandon were an additional source of joy and pride in his life. They lovingly called him "Grampa" and fondly remember visiting him on his farm. They too shared many happy and precious moments together. By profession, Richard was a Truck Driver. He loved the freedom afforded him driving from coast to coast. He also worked as a Foreman. His co-workers and employers remember his hard work and dedication. He was a man who performed his duties with a spirit of excellence. Richard was a fun loving man who enjoyed life and those he encircled. In his free time, he enjoyed working on cars and sharing with family and friends. His closest friends, Fuzzy, Alfred, Alvin Hawkins, Bobby Anderson and Johnny "Doc" Landrum shared a camaraderie that was both meaningful and immeasurable. Richard was also very close to his daughter-in-laws, Dawn Medina and Kelly Watkins. He will be missed by all who were fortunate enough to have known this kind and wonderful man. To know Richard was to love him. We already miss you. At the end of the day, you gave orders, "make sure doors are locked, check the heat and close all the window." Just to let you know, "I am still doing those things." You go towards the light and have a ball." Say "hey to all our friends and relatives and most of all say hey to the Father, Jesus Christ." We All Love You! "Lupe" Richard Bodine Watkins departed this life on June 4, 2014, in Denver, Colorado. Those left to cherish his memory and mourn his loss include his loving and devoted wife, Guadalupe Watkins of Denver; 2 sons, Richard L. (Kelly) Watkins of Boynton Beach, Florida and Sean C. Watkins of Denver; 1 brother, William Watkins; 2 sisters, Betty (Albert) Jenkins all of Denver and Gloria Jones of Oakland, CA; 9 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins other relatives and many friends.
