Louann Buchanan Mayes was born on June 4, 1950, in Greenville, Alabama to her parents, The Late Novelle Lee Rogers and Madie Rogers. She was raised in Sharon, Pennsylvania surrounded by her sisters, Ramona, Doreen and Sandra. She received her formal education in Sharon, Pennsylvania and granduated from Sharon High School. Louann relocated to Denver, Colorado. She was the proud mother of two beautiful children, Perry and Shawn. She was a loving and devoted mother whose pride and joy was the care and nurture of her family. On June 1, 2005, Louann united in holy matrimony to Calvin Mayes. They first met while attending a social gathering with family and friends. They too have shared many happy and precious moments together. By profession, Louann was employed as a Program Coordinator for Exempla Saint Joseph Hospital. She was hardworking, dedicated and respected by her coworkers and employers. She performed her duties with a spirit of excellence. Louann enjoyed life and those she encircled. In her free time, she enjoyed spending quality time with family and friends. She loved to help others whether it was offering advice or sharing her wisdom and knowledge in interior decorating. She was the type of woman had the Agape Love when caring for others. She led by example and what an example she was. Louann had a love for the Lord that was immovable. She loved to read the Bible. Her favorite scriptures were found in Psalms 33, Psalm 98 and Psalm 145. She will be missed by all who were fortunate enough to have known this kind hearted woman, who leaves a legacy of love, laughter and wisdom. To know Louann was to love her. Louann Buchanan Mayes departed this life on April 19, 2013, in Denver, Colorado. Those left to cherish her memory include her loving and devoted husband, Calvin Mays; her children, Perry L. Buchanan and Shawn E. (Dan) McAthur all of Denver; her mother, Madie Rogers, Sharon, PA; three sisters, Ramona Peagler, Sharon PA, Sandra L. (Mark) Smith, Youngstown, OH, and Dorene Peagler, Aurora; her grandson, Alexander Thomas Cook, Denver; 11 step grandchildren; 1 step great grandchild and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins other relatives and many friends.
