Leonard Redwine

November 24, 1940 — March 15, 2014

Leonard Redwine was born on November 24, 1940, in Henderson, Texas to his parents, Fernander Redwine, Sr. and Ethel Lisk Redwine. He was the eleventh of seventeen children born in the family. He was raised surrounded by his brothers, Henry, Sr., Fernander, Jr., Odis, Sr. Wilmer, Sr. Gerald, Cornelius, Ernest and his sisters, Ruthie Lee, Lucille, Juanita, Aletha, Everlena, Geneva, LoEthel, Ruth Ethel, and Phyllis. As a child, Leonard was mischievous and curious about his surroundings. He was one who stood his ground and didn't mind fighting if necessary. He also loved driving his mother into town. Leonard met and later married the former Barbara Kay Banks. They first met in Denver, Colorado. To this union, three beautiful children were born, Cathia, Janet and Leonard, Jr. He was also the proud father of a son, named Johnny. The family shared many happy and precious moments together. Barbara preceded him in death in 1996. Leonard was blessed with eleven grandchildren, Janethia, Shikinah, Robert, Jr., Jauan, Rashad, Urijah, Ki, Kiona, Axum, Adis and Johnny Jr.; who were an additional source of joy and pride in his life. They too shared many happy and special moments together. By profession, Leonard was a Cement Finisher. He worked with many of his family members at Redwine Construction as well as with Pritchard Construction and other companies in the area. A man of faith and belief in the Lord, Leonard attended worship service at the House of Joy Miracle and Deliverance Church under the pastoral leadership of Apostle Ralph E. Beechum. He truly enjoyed the wisdom and knowledge he was gaining as he studied the word of God. Leonard was a fun loving man, who enjoyed life and those he encircled. In his free time, he enjoyed coon hunting, playing dominoes, and driving his cars very fast. His closest friends, Dexter T. and Kenny Hall, who preceded him in death; shared a mutual camaraderie and a genuine closeness that was uncompromised. He will be missed by all who were fortunate enough to have known this kind and wonderful man. To know Leonard was to love him. Leonard Redwine, Sr. departed this life on March 15, 2014, in Denver, Colorado. Those left to cherish his memory and mourn his loss include 2 sons, Leonard (Mikacey) Redwine, Jr., Boulder, Johnny C.
