Juanita Collins

August 28, 1928 — August 30, 2015

The pleasant personality in the life of Juanita Collins, affectionately called "Mama, Grandma, Meatball or Aunt Neat", came to a close on Sunday afternoon August 30, 2015 at 2:00 p.m., in the Rose Medical Center, Denver, Colorado. Juanita was born on August 28, 1928 to Judge and Allie Boyd in Frederick, Oklahoma. She was the fifth child born to this union, her siblings JB, Raymond, Al. D, Artie Fay and Wayne all preceded her in death. Her beloved sister Shirley Bean is still with us. The family moved from Frederick, Oklahoma to Denver in October of 1936. Juanita was educated in the Denver Public School system. She attended Whittier Elementary, Cole Junior High and Manual High School. On December 18, 1948, she married Theo Ray Collins and from that union there are 12 children. She had a passion for fashion; a real "Queen". If you needed to look good, you would get in touch with Juanita. She worked in the fashion industry many years, coordinating fashion shows for famous fashion designers to show their new designs. She even modeled when they need to add color to the scene. Juanita loved her children, they were her world. They are her legacy. They motivated her to long life, because she said they kept her feeling young. She loved to watch her kids get together and act silly. They could imitate everybody. Juanita loved to dance with her children and grandsons. She loved working outside in her many flower beds. Fishing is a passion of the whole family, Juanita included. In fact she got a new fishing license at the age of 86 and was ready to go. She liked to travel and go garage sale shopping with her daughters and nieces. Juanita worship at Prince of Peace COGIC and was an usher. She was also a member of the State Usher Board for the Church of God in Christ. She leaves to cherish her memory, her beloved sister Shirley Bean and all twelve of her children. Jerry (Brenda); of Los Angeles, CA. Terry, Theo Jr. (Deborah); Frances, Dianna (Luther); Deborah (Nehmia); of Jacksonville, FL.; Cherlyn (Charles); Renica, Renee (Dave); Pamela (Ronald); Anthony (Michelle) and Gregory (Karla). There are 70 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren and 4 great great-grandchildren, a host of nieces and nephews, lots of loving friends and neighbors.
