Joann Benjamin

November 15, 1937 — April 28, 2014

JoAnn Benjamin was born on November 15, 1937, to her parents, Alonzo Palmer and Fannie Byrd Palmer in Atlanta, Georgia. She was the fourth child born in the family. She was raised surrounded by her brothers, Acie, William, Alphonso, Alonzia and sisters, Julia, Frances, Fanny, and Jean. JoAnn was adopted at a young age by the White Family. She started Missionary work and later received Missionary schooling for two years and three years of Missionary Training. She furthered her education by completing Theology courses and she also attended Emily Griffith Opportunity School in Denver, Colorado. In 1963, JoAnn united in holy matrimony to Floyd Benjamin in Denver, Colorado. To this union, a son, Michael Anthony Benjamin was born. This marriage was later dissolved. She later wed, Reverend John Freeman. There were no children born to this union. John preceded her in death. JoAnn was employed in the Home Health Care Industry. She was respected by her co-workers and employers for being hard-working and dependable. She received training at Swedish Hospital in Denver where she learned more techniques to take better care of patients. She performed all her duties with a spirit of excellence. A woman of faith and belief in the Lord, JoAnn accepted the Lord as her personal savior at a very young age and has maintained a strong Christian belief for her entire life. She was a faithful and dedicated of Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church in Denver. She joined under the pastoral leadership of the late Reverend Jones. She later joined Morning Star Baptist Church serving under the pastoral leadership of Reverend Hardy Swazer. She was a woman who led by example and truly believed that everyone should have the right relationship with the Lord. In Matthew chapter 5, verse 16, we find this recorded word. "Let your light so shine before men that they may see your good works and glorify your Father who is in Heaven." JoAnn will be missed by all who was fortunate enough to have known this kind and wonderful Christian woman. To know JoAnn was to love her. She is also preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Acie L. Palmer, William Stoudemire; and a sister, Julia Palmer.
