Howard Pearson

Howard Dean Pearson was born on December 3, 1956, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to his parents, Lonzo H. Pearson, Sr. and Josie Mae Harris. He was the second child born in the family. He was raised surrounded by his brothers, Lonzo, Jr., Cornelius and his sister, Portia. He was loving nicknamed, "Sweet Water." Growing up, Howard loved sports. He played Baseball, Basketball and Football. Howard received his early education in Denver, Colorado, where he attended Manual High School. On April 15, 1976, Howard enlisted in the United States Army. While serving his country, he earned a Marksman (rifle) ribbon. He served with honor and distinction and was honorably discharged. Howard has worked in both Colorado and Illinois. He was a man who enjoyed being his own boss. He was the Owner and Operator of Pearson Unlimited. He enjoyed being his own Boss and working hours of his preference. A man of faith and belief in the Lord, Howard was a member of Marantha Church of God in Christ in Denver. He served his church and the Lord under the Pastoral leadership of his uncle, the late Elder Leon H. Kelly, Sr. Howard was a fun loving man who enjoyed life and those he encircled. In his free time, he enjoyed listening to music, playing dominoes, Pokeno, watching sports and an occasional game of dice. His closest friends, Pastor George L. Roberts, Bobby Lyles, Robert "Pee Wee" Paul Davis, Dewey & Jewel Wilson, and Colfax Avenue will miss his sense of humor, his being straight forward and outspoken. Howard carried an illuminating smile that would lite any room he entered. He will also be remembered for the swagger in his walk. He will be missed by all who were fortunate enough to have known this kind and wonderful man. To know Howard was to love him. He is preceded in death by his mother, Josie Martinnillie; his father, Lonzo Pearson, Sr.; his stepdad, Lorenzo Martinnillie; and a brother, Lonzo H. Pearson, Jr. Howard Dean Pearson departed this life on March 30, 2014, in Denver, Colorado. Those left to cherish his memory and mourn his loss include his sister, Portia (Stephen) Alexander of Aurora; a brother, Cornelius Pearson of Denver; one niece, Portia B. Pearson; one great-niece, Kalayah M. Griggs; nephews, Donde O. Collier, Michael Collier and Lonzo Pearson, III; his cousin, Reverend Leon H. Kelly, Jr. and family; his devoted friend, Madelyn Richardson and her children, Beverly Richardson, Lori Richardson, Sharon (Thomas) Huiett and Art (Junnie) Richardson and a host of other relatives and many friends.
